new flash, our offense isn't any good when Jenifer running it.

You can say that again! It is obvious Logan is the superior pg but the offense still sucks regardless. Broome has to be out there either way...so this is cronins chance to make the switch back. If not starting the minutes need to be there.

Have been to all three games. Really think last night was Canes best game. Played within himself offensively and was engaged defensively. He was directing players and was very vocal on the floor. In the post game Cronin mentioned he had a really good practice prior to the game. It certainly looked like he carried it into this game. Guys we have to guard and rebound to win. We do not have the offencive talent with this group regardless who is on the floor to just out score people. The intensity has to be there on both sides of the floor or are streak of tourney appearances will end at 8.

What did he say?

Basically that Cumberland lacks consistent effort and intensity. Doesn't give it his all every day in practice and picks his spots in games. Really he called out most of the team for this and for lack of communication, said it is largely due to inexperience, but singled out Cumberland and sort of called out Cane as well.

Said Jenifer is really the only guy who shows up ready to give it his all every day in practice and in every game (which probably explains why he is starting) - he also singled out Johnson as giving very good effort in practice.

Yup, said Cane had the best practice of anyone yesterday. Also hinted that like Cumberland, Cane needs to bring the intensity and effort to every practice and every game.

Doesn't sound like a hard concept to follow. Practice well and play well.

Guys we may be able to just out score the NC central and Milwaukee's of the world but unless we defend and rebound offensive and defensive we will not have a good season. Putting our best offensive lineup out there withour guarding is not going to help us succeed in the long run. If sitting people now helps get the point accross in the early part of the season I'd say that is a good plan.

I mean it's strange... it's strange to me too, but we're talking about*practice man, we're not even talking about the game... the*actual game, when it matters... We're talking about*practice*…

Good news is brooks broke his streak of getting rejected by the rim, he was going two games strong with it and broke it last night.

In all seriousness though he’s been solid the last 2 games although it was against lesser competition playing against guys who are smaller than he is. I’ll admit it’s starting to look like I was wrong on him and he might be better than I thought, I don’t think he is great, but I do think he is decent.

Brooks is the worst offensive player I can remember. I have never seen anyone miss more shots from 2-3 feet. And Moore isn't the best 3 point shooter Mick has ever coached. My grandmother could shoot from 3 at a higher percentage.

There is nothing wrong with being defense-first minded.

But Mick is currently defense-only minded. He keeps repeating that offense is 'sometimes you make shots sometimes you don't'. Thats not what offense is.

It's not reasonable to think we'll hold every opponent under 40% shooting. Teams with offensive talent are going to score.

You can't completely neglect one side of the ball.

i think your assumption that he completely neglects the offense is incorrect. You don't win at the level Mick does by ignoring one side of the court. You maybe overstating your opinion a bit. I'm certain he does put a big emphasis on guarding. He demands it. But to say he neglects the offense is not true. Offenses always look better when your shooting the ball well. The theory that he doesn't try to sign players who are good offensive players is false. I think under the circumstances in which he is forced to recruit in he does well with the talent he has access to. I think if you believe he wouldn't like to have players with a better overall skill set may be a wrong conclusion.

I never talked about recruits or any of that.

I'm simply talking about what the coach himself is saying. In his opinion our defense has been terrible. In his opinion offense comes and goes and shots either go in or they don't.

The defense is miles ahead of the offense. It might not be up to his standards, but its far from bad. The offense is bad.

Both should upset him.

Cronin is to offense what Mike Brown is to winning football games. If it happens, wonderful but we’re not going to let it spoil our day if it doesn’t.
