"As Mr. Dwyer explained a little bit ago, this post by Henry Abbott on TrueHoop has taken our basketball corner of the Internet by storm Friday for claiming that Kobe Bryant(notes) is not as clutch as everyone thinks. By the numbers, Kobe makes a little less than one of every three shots when his team is down two, down one, or tied on the final possession, which makes him one of the worst performers among players with at least 30 attempts in those situations. Kobe also rates poorly in all situations in the final five minutes or overtime."

This is me telling Volume Shooter to Practice.

This is so typical. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I heard today about how it's simple, the reason Lakers lost to Celtics is because Kobe just shoots too much. Check that, he shot above 50 percent from the field, and from the 3 point line. He was great. Kobe is still a great player, probably the best player in the NBA still to this day. He gets W's for his team. I don't care what you say, he has been the best player in the NBA the past 5 years.

My post had nothing to do with the Lakers/Celtics game...

The bottom line is Volume shooter is not clutch, as been proven. What also is prooven is that volume shooter shoots alot.

How do you measure intangibles? How do you measure willing your team to win? How do you measure making your teammates better?....Championships. He has 5. He has a very good chance at getting another one this year- and maybe even one more before its all said and done.

Kobe has 5 rings, so does Ron Harper...

"Intangibles" are like getting a "good effort" comment.

Classic, really reaching here. There are so much more in sports than just the "stat line."

And aren't you a Jordan fan? How many rings does he have without another hall of famer? Remember, the year he sat out, his team had 55 wins without him.

Then again, Kobe has 3 rings with out a top 50 NBA player on his team...does MJ even have 1 without a co top 50 player?

Heres the difference. Gameplans where around Shaq and Jordan..

As for the 55 win season. How about 72-10.

Might I add that Kobe was handed a "championship" quality team when Shaq was thrown under the bus. Jordan came into a team that was in no such way the same.
