I'm not looking for:

-a new coach
-new players
-bigger rims/smaller ball

but specific things you'd like to see.

For me, I wouldn't mind seeing Bishop more around the FT line. Gates shooting from there scares me, and he's not the best passer. Bishop can pass and dribble, as well as shoot well from that range.

I originally thought that Gates had a good shot from right around free throw range. Early on he was hitting those consistantly.

So TheLivingLegend on the court is not an acceptable answer :D

But no really, my biggest problem with this offense is the lack of movement. To much standing around. As for breaking the zone, throwing rashad in the middle isnt a bad idea.

How about some back door cuts, skip passes, decent picks, or anything that involves fundamentals.

Good passing would be considered fundamental, but I don't think "skip passes" would be considered fundamental. In fact, they are largely discouraged and many coaches teach players NOT to throw them unless it is WIDE open.

Syracuse was too long and too active on the perimeter to throw skip passes, save a few from low block to opposite wing.

I guess this is more of a word fight, but I love picking on the weak :D

I don't, we need him on the wing and he needs to dribble-penetrate the zone.

I can understand your argument, but I prefer to put my most athletic, best player maker, best passer and best dribble jump shooter to catch the ball 15 feet from the hoop and make a decision.

I'd prefer DV and Cash to play on the wings because they're much better 3pt shooters than Lance.

Dixon wouldn't be bad, if he was 3 inches or more taller. He wouldn't be needed on the wing if DV and Davis shot consistently (dare to dream). The problem is that we're small and somewhat fast, but not good shooters. Not exactly a great combination.

Hmmmmmmm that is kind of funny. I saw Duke throw a decent amount of skip passes which resulted in an open look or a wide open entry to the post. Moving the ball across the perimeter allowing the defense to shift will NEVER beat a zone.

You are right about cuse, their zone is too good for skip passes and they usually bait people into throwing them. With that said we get zoned up by pretty much every team we see and a lot of them dont play much zone. Skip passes are great ways to attack a BAD zone.

We can agree on that point.

I'm not a big fan of skip passes.

I'd much rather see Thomas screen one of the guards, Cash penetrate off that screen and Deonta flare or roll behind Cash (Uconn did this effectively last night).

That would be the way to beat the Cuse zone bc it is so effective, but every team in the Big East throws a zone at us. A lot of these zones are very shoddy and ineffective. Would be nice to have a shooter on the wing but would like to see them either swing the ball quicker around the perimeter for better entry points to the post or yes a SKIP pass.

Ultimately we agree that something needs to change and it needs to happen soon bc it is apparent this team is LOST when it comes to breaking a zone. Its embarrassing that every single announcer needs to point out that we look utterly confused on the offensive side of the ball.

Loved Lance running the point....he knows how to get into the lane and is very effective when does so. DV is struggling and until he proves he can hit shots I would like to see his involvement phased out. More Cash and Lance.....less DV

Run and run fast. Push the ball. Lets get lance into the open floor and get him to the basket. Our half court offense is a joke, so lets stay out of it. A deep team filled with athletes should always run. We are not Princeton.

Could not agree with you more! It is not very often that the Cats get fast break lay-ups or 2 on 1, 3 on 2. Often we rebound and walk the ball up the court. Push the ball a little, especially since the zone gives us trouble. Don't allow the defense to get set. Syracuse is a perfect example of that.

If we have to set up against a zone: quicker passes; penetration by lance or cash and then kickouts to vaughn and davis or dump off to gates (not toyloy).

Against man would like to see more off the ball screens. If they switch on our "shooters" open up on the low block after screening. Get the BALL INSIDE if not for layups, to open up outside jumpers.

Basically dont do what they are doing now and stand around!

The problem with our transition game is that it takes more than one or two guys. We need our entire team to bust a$$ after we grab a defensive rebound.

While many may not like this mention, watch a Dayton game and notice how fast the entire team gets down the floor. Rebound ----> Outlet pass to PG ---->one pass to wing in transition ----> bucket!

It takes an entire team to run, not one guy.
