Where does Cashmere Wright rank

I really like Cash's game. It is tough to say though. Devon Downey was here for one year. Downey will likely go down as the better college player but Cash has meant so much more to the program.

Obviously he is better than Kenny Sat but no where near Steve Logan.

His senior year could define his legacy. If he leads the team to a Elite 8 or final 4 he would have showed great progress every single year.

knee problems hurt wrights full potential as a bearcat but he has done a good job for what he can do. to me he ranks second behind Vaughn as far as cronins pgs

Why is he obviously better than Satterfield? Because he played for four years? That's the only reason I can think of as Sat's first two years were better than Wright's.

Personally, I don't count Wright's first year. He really wasn't a point guard when Lance and Vaughn were here. He more or less just passed them the ball and stood back.
I think he had better defense reflected in the steals column, was better in the clutch moments of games and was the better floor general but obviously Satterfield had the better offensive production.

cronin says satterfield is the best point guard he ever coached. by no means do i think it is "obvious" that wright is better than him.

satterfield gets a bad reputation because he shot a lot on a team that started first year juco's jamaal davis and immanuel mcelroy (neither of whom were offensively productive first year), donald little, and steve logan who was fresh off almost transferring out of uc after his sophomore year. not hard to understand why he shot a lot.

Wright didn't play with those guys cause of injury. Dixon played that year though

I think we need to see Cash's Sr. year to make a call. He's gotten better each year and can now really control the game and plays with the poise you expect of a Big East point guard. He also seems to have a knack for knocking down big shots late in games when we need it. I remember Bobby Knight really talking him up during the Marquette home game.

Cash is better now than downey was at UC. However, downey was better as a senior than cash is now. Hopefully cash can beat him out with his senior season.

I would take Satterfield, Van Exel, Logan and Downey over Cashmere Wright. He is better than everyone else I can think off the top of my head.

Disagree. Downey was just good as a freshman than Wright was as a 4th year junior.

Wright (junior year): 10.9 points, 4.5 assists, 3.78 rebounds, 2 steals
Downey (freshman) 12.3 points, 4.1 assists and 2 steals

For reference as a senior (on a bad team) Downey averaged: 22.5 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds

Based on those stats, they were about the same when downey was a freshman. I figured they were, I loved watching downey play.

you can't look at pure stats to compare them. this uc team played a lot of 2-3 zone in the second half of the year because they were not deep and wanted to preserve themselves on D. that leads to a lot of lower scoring games. huggins never played zone even with a gun to his head while at uc.

cashmere wright hit more big shots at the end of this year than any uc player in recent memory. that is a lot more important to me that straight line stats. when uc needed a basket final 3 minutes of the game, you knew cashmere was going to deliver at the end of the season. that meant a lot to their success.

Devin Downey hit his fair share of shots as well, and that team played what 6 guys? and once Kirkland got hurt it was essentially the starting 5 doing all the scoring. I recall Downey tying the game on the road at Xavier and then getting called for a BS charge on a shot that took the lead late. For a freshman he had his share of huge moments (on the road @Syracuse and senior night against WVU). So I'd say he was just as key.
