It's been 2.5 weeks since we first played ECU (11-8, 2-5 AAC, NET #167, KenPom #171), and the Pirates' results have steadily worsened over that time span.

72-71 W over Memphis at home
92-85 L to UCF in OT at home
79-36 L @ Houston
71-54 L @ Memphis

The UCF loss was their first home loss of the year.

In our first match-up, the Bearcats catapulted to a 23-point first half lead before the Pirates rallied behind a 35-point effort from Vance Jackson to get the defecit down to 5 with just over 3 minutes to go in the game.

UC held onto win 79-71.

The Bearcats are 5-point favorites on the road today.

We're doing a great job on Newton again. He hasn't scored from the field and he turned it over 4 times.

Watching Hensley play D and he’s doing a pretty good job. Very athletic , he can be a really really good player I think.

He doesn't bring much of anything on offense right now though. If he can improve his offense over the off-season he should be a quality contributor next year.

This is the second consecutive game where the other team's best player has torched DDJ in the final few minutes. I don't know why we are putting DDJ on Newton right now.

Yeah, I don't understand why MAW wasn't on him. MAW is our best defensive guard.

And Newman had been on him a lot too. The same situation happened in the Temple game with Damian Dunn.

Newman had four fouls on him for the last 10 minutes or so of the game. They didn't want him to pick up a 5th. Perhaps the logic was the same with MAW (3 fouls), but he had one to spare might as well risk it.

Yea he is a little timid, but we do have a few guys on this team that limit others opportunities… ddj Davenport Saunders

I don't mean the last 10 minutes, just the final 4-5 possessions. Foul trouble shouldn't really be a concern at that point.

Jackson certainly presented a mismatch &
shows to the Bearcats need for taller, quicker
forwards than we have currently. Davenport is
kind of one dimensional (3 pointers) and Hensley
is a work in progress.
