'11 NC PG Jerome Seagears

Don't forget Pangos. He's not as flashy but is the consumate pg with a very good outside shot. UC has some very good opportunities at pg. Including Elijah Carter, and Jabarie Hinds as well and Guyn can play both guard positions.

Pangos could be a possibility for the 2012 class if our other options don't work out. He has the option to reclassify if he chooses to and is debating with his father whether to stay in '11 or move to '12 class. The '12 class should be small in numbers so not sure PG would be an option if we land one for '11 (Burke, Seagears, etc.)

Bearcat jeff just saw you mentioned this is the Pangos thread.

Jerome Seagears, a 6-1 point guard from North Carolina and DC Assault, will take an official to Rutgers Sept. 2.

He recently took an unofficial to Rutgers with DC Assault teammate Malick Kone, who told ZAGSBLOG he may commit on his official Sept. 10/11.

Seagears is considering Rutgers, DePaul, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Miami, George Mason and Central Florida, per Damon Handon of DC Assault.

Seagears is the No. 22 point guard in the Class of 2011, per Rivals.

jerome seagears

Not that this means anything but UC and Arizona and one other school were listed as high for Jeromes schools now there are more than 10 that are medium. I hope this is because Trey is coming here i would hate to lose out on a very good guard to Rutgers!!!

Seagears' teammate, Malick Kone, was the one that said he might commit to Rutgers after his upcoming visit.

Seagears is set to visit UC a week from Friday. For what it's worth, Rivals no longer lists UC, Arizona, and Rutgers as high interest.

Kone is pushing Jerome hard to attend Rutgers. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Booker Richardson is a great recruiter with strong ties in the NY/NJ area so Arizona isn't out of the question.

Seagears is from DC, not NY/NJ...

Didn't say he was. Just said Booker had strong ties in the east (NY/NJ). I understand Seagears plays for DC Assault. Rutgers has a solid connection to his AAU program thru their ssociate head coach David Cox. He was once an assistant coach for DC Assault. Coming off a Final 4 run, you can understand why He would be interested in WVU and in playing for Huggins.

It's just Book, not Booker fwiw. His ties are NYC, and specifically the NY Gauchos program. He doesn't have any pull with the DC area, so just pointing out you were reaching there. Agree with the rest. Coach Cox going to Rutgers will certainly help them land some Assault kids and WVU going to the Final 4 is a big plus in recruiting. We'll see how things go this weekend on his visit...

I was reading up on Seagears and WVU. While he considers them his favorite, he might be third in line for potentially only one guard spot. Huggins really likes Phil Greene and Jabarie Hinds. WVU is in the final three for both guards.

Malik Kone and he are very good friends and the associate head coach has strong DC ties. He got his first assistant job coaching the DC Assault I believe.

I'm not sure anybody has a good read on Jerome. He has stated as recently as 9/9 that he is still strongly considering NC State.

"We're also wondering exactly what the staff has in mind at point guard for 2011. With Javi Gonzalez gone, Ryan Harrow will be the only true PG on the roster. From the looks of it, the coaching staff have put a lot of their time in recruiting PG's for 2012, but one point guard that is still on their 2011 list is Jerome Seagears. We recently caught up with Jerome who informed us that he "just" spoke with the NC State staff and is still strongly considering them."

Another one bites the dust!!! I never thought we would land a stud PG this year because we have two very capable PG's in Wright and Parker, both of whom will be around another 3 years. Hopefully Carter will pull the trigger soon so we know what to expect... I think we need to focus on Sanders and Myles Davis if we land both of them i would be more than happy!!!

No surprise here. Been saying he will be a Scarlett Knight for a couple weeks. Too many connections there.

No offense, but you were?

There was an interview where Seagers said he was hoping for Rutgers to impress him but that was about all I saw.
