A.J. Jordan
High school: Trotwood-Madison (Ohio). Height: 6-2 1/2. Weight: 170. 40-yard dash: 4.41. Scout.com ranking: No. 25 WR.
Michigan emerged as a strong presence at Trotwood-Madison two years ago when it landed tight end Brandon Moore, running back Michael Shaw, and receiver Roy Roundtree. Now the Wolverines are back this year courting A.J. Jordan.
The four-star pass-catcher's scouting report reads like a coach's wish list.
"One of the top players in Ohio in his class," his Scout.com profile reads. "Also ranked one of the top 4 hurdlers in the nation. A smooth route runner with a great burst, he can make plays anywhere on the field and makes defenses game-plan against him."
Michigan became privy to Jordan's talents during his participation in its annual summer camp. He didn't receive an offer from coach Rich Rodriguez until late last month, but the Wolverines recent entrance into the scholarship fray did little to dim his opinion of Michigan. As a matter of fact, it was enhanced during his attendance at the program's "Barbecue at the Big House" last weekend.
"We got up there and it was real nice," Jordan told GoBlueWolverine.com. "They took us around the campus and they showed us around and made us feel real comfortable. I had a really good time. The food was real good (laughing). They had some ribs and some chicken and some macaroni and cheese. It was so good.
"I'm real comfortable there and they just made me feel like I was already part of the team. That's a big thing for me when talking about where I'm going. I feel real comfortable at Michigan."
Another feather in Michigan's cap is Jordan's relationship with Roundtree.
"We're really close," Jordan said of his former teammate. "When I was a freshman he was a senior and took me under his wing. We worked together and he's really cool. I know if I went up there I'd feel really comfortable. He's telling me it's good up there and they could get me in the system and make some plays."
The Wolverines appear to have vaulted into the driver's seat for Jordan's. Based on his decision timetable, it might prove difficult for the other 18 programs on his offer list remove Michigan from that perch.
"I would like to try to make (a commitment) a little early," Jordan said. "I'd like to have it done before my senior football season. If I make the early decision, it'll be somewhere where I feel really comfortable at with the coaches and where I could play."
