Shaquille Washington, a 5-9, 163-pound wide receiver from Maple Heights, Ohio, made an oral commitment to attend UC today.

Washington is ranked No. 66 nationally among wide receivers by Rivals.com.

According to Rivals, he runs a 4.47 40 and has a 3.7 grade point average. He was the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s offensive Player of the Year last fall playing quarerback, but was recruited as a wide receiver.

Last year, he passed for 1,766 yards and rushed for 901, a 7.3-yard average, and 13 touchdowns. He’s listed as a 3-star Rivals recruit.

The Plain Dealer reported that he chose UC from among East Carolina, Iowa State, Marshall, Bowling Green, Kent, Ohio, Toledo, Air Force and North Carolina State. But I just talked to Washington and he said he was also offered by Illinois, Colorado and UCLA

Anyone have a non-pay link to his full press conference? I saw portions of his highlight film, and all I can say is wow... Can't wait to see the kid on the field.

Go back a page and look at moose's link he posted from Rivals. It is a free link and shows the press conference at least up till he picked UC and put on the hat.

Saw that but assumed there was more to the interview after that point... Ah well.

Interesting to see what Schurburtt and company do at 247sports.com. The former owner at Rivals is starting it up.

Washington is really exciting and love to see him and Coyne getting an early start together.

Just flipping through the channels, it looks like the Gridiron Kings event is going to be shown on Wednesday night at 7 on ESPNU. I definitely want to check that out. There are several other guys with UC offers playing in that event besides Coyne and Shaq.

Anybody have any info on Shaq's injury he suffered during week one?

It is a right knee injury and he was on crutches on the sidelines. I am looking for more info on the severity. I'll update here with what I find.

Edit: I believe he was injured on a play in which a personal foul was called. Still looking for the severity but it happened part way through the first quarter. It sucks that Coyne and Shaq both go down. Ugh.

On a positive note, from reading the write up on Bearcatreport about Temple it sounds like he had himself a pretty good game against Glenville.
