Strengths:
Jefferson is a young forward with obvious star qualities. He is long and athletic lefty with an already strong body that will only continue to fill out. He is very smooth with the ball in his hands, able to make plays north to south as well as east to west, and equally capable of finishing plays himself or creating for others. He loves to take the ball off the defensive glass and start the break himself, makes good use of a euro step in the open floor, and uses a tight jab to set a stationary defender up for his long first step. Jefferson finishes well at the rim, goes right into contact, and will even post smaller defenders. He is equally valuable defensively, using his length, lateral quickness, physical strength, and high motor to defend multiple positions.
Weaknesses:
The most notable hole in Jefferson's game is his perimeter jump shot. While he is very effective driving to the rim, his penetration is almost predictable because defenders do not yet have to respect his range at the three-point arc and he is consequently much more effective in a fast tempo that he is a half-court game. Defensively, he would be even more effective if he got more length with each slide in the half-court. Like all young players he needs to continue to get stronger, develop his all-around skill set, and overall understanding of the game.
Bottom Line:
Jefferson is a jumper away from being absolutely unstoppable. He is one of the more impressive prospects in the class. He has a multiple skill-set that is hard to handle. Due to his frame, handle, and passing ability he has all the physical attributes to be a Top 25 talent or better.
