not too familiar with the rules for this, but since he is class of 2013 and the signing period has passed can he even sign with a school and play for the upcoming season? or would he have to play a year of prep or even JUCO?

I was wondering the same thing, but didnt Louisville get Harzell only a month or so before the season started last year?

There is no more signing of LOI's, they now just sign financial aid papers, ala Lance Stephenson.

I'm assuming you mean once the period is over? LOI's still exist but no player has to sign one if they don't want to. Of course w/o a LOI a schools can recruit over you that much easier.

Once the recruiting period is over a recruit cannot sign an LOI. It is not allowed. They sign financial papers for their scholarship as NTS said. Technically, a player does not have to sign an LOI and frankly, if you are a top 10 kid, I don't know why you would. There really isn't much of an upside for you to do that. It secures your spot with a school but if you are a top 10 recruit you don't have to worry about that really.

I swear, if Memphis gets him......... Yeah, they have nice facilities, good fan support, good recruits, etc., but they never produce results. Pastner is a mediocre coach, IMO. If Mick got that type of talent that he gets on a yearly basis, he would make the Sweet 16 (at least) every year.

That's what I was thinking but there is so many better schools y Marshall?
Any way Rhode Island is in there close to probably third behind Marshall, Memphis.

I think Mick might be able to make some inroads, but the question is, will it be enough? Things have changed a lot since he signed with Baylor: we have filled all our schollies, we might be seeing some roster overturn (someone transferring, etc.), and we have Jermaine Lawrence. Lawrence could really help us in this case. It gives a viable example of another big time recruit he could pair up with and get major minutes right away. Woodson has mentioned that immediate playing time plays a big role in his decision, and it was the main reason he left Baylor, because he was blocked. C'mon, Mick, if you get Woodson, we will have a very nice team with lots of scoring options. It would leave PG as really the only big question mark left.......

I think Gaines is as good as gone making room for Lawrence and there is a strong rumor going around that Morman wont qualify so in that case we would have 1 spot open. Plz get this guy here Mick.

Nevermind.....

@RecruitingESPN Just spoke with Kevin Robinson mentor for Dominic Woodson and is handling recruiting. Official list Memphis, Cincinnati, Rhode Island, South Carolina and Gonzaga. Marshall not being considered. Will set visits in the next couple days.

COME ON MICK!

Yesssssss, now get it done, Mick. If this happens, it will definitely be the most interesting roster in years. Definitely the two biggest gets in one class since Yancy and Cash, IMO.

I was wondering y Marshall was list on another page but that's great news I think we have a very good shot with the group you listed. Only worried about Memphis and Gonzaga. Gonzaga has a history of very good big men and developing them.

That's what I was saying.

But can Gonzaga offer the PT he wants? I doubt it, but it is possible. At UC, he is starter from day 1.

No idea but I'm assuming Marshall was on his list earlier because of his time spent at Huntington Prep, essentially in Marshall country. But yea it still was shocking that a player of his caliber would have Marshall on his short list.

And I will say this. Wherever he goes, he will have to work extremely hard to get in better shape to be able to play any extended minutes. I attended their game against Aiken this year and he didn't get off the bench. He went through full warmups and everything so it wasn't injury. He can definitely be a big time player though and would provide pretty solid depth.
