From Dorian, Georgia to Cincinnati, Ohio, basketball is taking Tre Scott places.

The 6-foot-7 forward from McIntosh Academy on the coast of Georgia verbally committed to the Bearcats on Monday night, shortly after returning home from an official visit to the school.

"Besides basketball, Cincinnati is a great opportunity for me," Scott said. "Even after basketball is over, I'm going to be good because I went there. I feel comfortable there and I just liked everything about it."

Scott took an official visit to Cincy over the weekend and took some time to talk things over with his parents. It didn't take too long for him to make his decision final.

"I had a feeling that once I saw it for myself, I would like it even more. I like places where I'll be staying. I know that sounds funny but I want to be comfortable with where I live. It's not far from campus and everything is walking distance. It is a great living environment up there."

Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin likes to use combo forwards like Scott and has had success with guys like him in the past. Scott said he likes the vision Cronin has for him moving forward.

"He'll use me as a combo forward. He said he likes how I get up and down the floor and I can give them more athleticism and versatility," Scott said. "I think I can be a mismatch here or there and beat people off the dribble at the three. If there is a smaller guy at the four, I can use my quickness to defend him. I feel like I can help them in different places."

Scott picked the Bearcats over offers from Florida Atlantic, where he visited officially, and Murray State.

Cincy fans: I'm a big Tre Scott fan. Watched him closely for the last 2 years. Have him No. 7 in GA. Great motor, very consistent.

The University of Cincinnati added another player to its 2015 recruiting class Monday night when it received a commitment from Trey Scott, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward from McIntosh County Academy in Darien, Georgia.

You won't find Scott listed in the Rivals.com 150, but Justin Young of HoopSeen.com says the Bearcats have landed a winner even though Scott won't turn any heads nationally.

"A lot of folks up there are probably going to say, 'Who?' " Young said. "He's from a tiny little coastal town of 700 people. He's one of the most consistent guys I've seen down here over the last couple of years in his class. He seems to always find a way. If he's not scoring, he's blocking shots or making great passes. I could see where he fits (UC coach Mick) Cronin's style. He has a non-stop motor and he's really versatile. He may not have a lot of sexiness nationally, but he'll help them in a lot of different ways."

Young said Scott visited Florida Atlantic and was also recruited by Murray State and Georgia "a little bit."

"He's had four different coaches in four seasons," Young said. "He's never had any stability. He's kind of been on his own in figuring out how to play. The kid is just hungry to be coached. He won't wow anybody right away, but he's a good long-term investment."

Scott is expected to sign a letter-of-intent in November. UC has one more scholarship available for 2015-16

The addition of three-star power forward Tre Scott to the Cincinnati recruiting class pushes the Bearcats to No 37 in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.

6-7, 203-pounds from Darien (Ga.) Mcintosh County Academy, Scott is ranked No. 193 by 247Sports and No. 225 in the 247sports Composite. His Cincinnati running mate is point guard Justin Jenifer, who is ranked No. 94 by 247Sports and No. 128 in the 247Sports Composite.

Cincinnati was 57% in the Crystal Ball for Scott.

Chad, who that weve seen recently, or anyone at all, would you compare Scotts game to? I see hes 203 LBS so hes much bigger than Shaq was at this stage of his career. Are there games similar? I assume, if hes going to play the 3, he can hit down some outside jumpers? Love hearing about his nonstop motor, that has Cincinnati player written all over it

I like the commitment. Jennifer, Scott and Evans...I'd be happy.

If they dont land Evans I'd like to see them pick up their recruitment of Kaiser Gates. Scott is more of a Rubles type of forward and if we cant land a true scorer like Evans I'd like a true 3 to help the depth when Shaq graduates.

I'm not sure what the back up plan is. They are taking a gander at Tanksley Efianayi from Dayona State College who shot 48% and averaged almost 16 ppg and 6 rpg. He's not a long range bomber (31%) but can score and did shoot 48% overall and 70% from the ft line. At 6'5" and 210 lbs he could play either wing spot, but I think Arizona St. and St. Johns are in fairly deep with him. Not sure where his recruitment is but if Mick personally watched him I have to think there's some decent interest.

Isaiah Moss out of Chicago Simeon is another guy I'd like to see some increased interest in. He came on very strong in July and I know UC showed some interest in August, but again I can't speak right now to how deep that interest runs or if it's mutual. He'd fill that small forward role nicely.

At this point, I think they are all in on Evans and if that doesn't pan out you likely won't see anything till spring unless somebody really wows them.

tre scott

watching his game online right now. at the half he has 17 pts/4-5 blocks/and quite a few rebounds. he has hit shots from three point range/mid range and dunks

finished with 21 pts/13 rebounds/6 blocks and had some nice assists. looks to be a legit 6 ft. 7 in. played a little over 3 quarters.

it was wsav.com local tv and I think it might be his teams only time on.

Do we know if there are highlights? There is a very limited amount of video on scott. I think 1 or 2 recent videos from the summer and then a bunch from 2011
