Mick scheduled a competitive non conference schedule priorto the season. Unfortunately the teams under performed.

We still have a very string case for the ncaa tourney. I think we will win out, build some momentum, and advance very far in the ncaa

By the way...non conference strength of schedule should only go so far. We're in the freaking Big East. And we scheduled Xavier, Georgia and Oklahoma. Oklahoma had Blake Griffin a few years ago and Xavier has been one of the steadiest temas in the past 10 years (I just threw up as I typed that).

If we have a winning record in the Big East (and especially if we have 11 wins or more) and don't make the tournament, I just don't see that going over so well.

Presbyterian and Marshall really did f us. If we don't have those two black eyes on our resume, I don't think there'd be any issue. Butgers and St. John's didn't help either.

Everyone keeps saying that the selection committee takes injuries into account yet they fail to mention Parker being out the first month plus of the season. He is not our best player but he might be our most important.

This is where I get annoyed with you. Your blind love of Mick completely overlooks that our Non conference SOS the last 2 years has not just been bad, but historically bad.

I understand Mick's philosophy in scheduling it. The Big East is tough and we need to enter with as many wins as possible. Then he gets to puff out his chest and say "See, we're improving every year" However, he could easily schedule borderline top 100 - top 200 teams. There is no excuse to play 4-5 teams each year ranked 300+

Philosophy? Mick scheduled the games that he could given the budget cuts. You don't schedule numerous 300+ games because you want to. Also, it's not as easy to schedule the 101-200 teams anymore because they have realized how the RPI is gamed and they are charging a ton for a single buy game. Now that a competent AD has replaced the bean counter I fully expect the OOC scheduling issues to be fixed. The early season tournament in Vegas next year will definitely help the SOS.

I must be out of the loop...Has the field been announced for the 2012 Las Vegas Invitational already?

Interesting that UC is ranked 51st in ESPN's BPI (Xavier is 50 for those curious). UC's SOS according to the BPI is 76.

Also 40 in KenPom and 42 in Sagarin. I think an average of these 3 plus the Massey Ratings would be the best indication of teams. UC would be ranked as the 45th best team in the nation. That rating is much closer to where they are than 86 (which is their RPI).

When are you going to learn that I am always right on here? I have yet to lose an argument to anyone on bearcat talk and that streak extends tonight.

Your petty personal attacks on mick have not gone unnoticed. The schedule was strong before the season. Circumstances beyond micks control, ie ooc teams losing other games, weakened the schedule

Mick just stated that the Vegas tournament will include Oregon, Iowa State and UNLV. Also there will be a game @Marshall.

Not sure what you guys are arguing about. I'm pretty sure Mick's role doesn't also include scheduling. Mick doesn't schedule the games. He may have some input but at the end of the day that type of stuff is handled by the AD's office.

Mick does indeed schedule the games, his contract gives him control over the schedule as do the contracts of most if not all major program coaches.

The only thing I call out mick for personally is how after a loss he blames the players yet after a win he credits himself.

I highly doubt many if any people on this board have ever lost an argument to someone who believes Mick Cronin is a Top 10 coach in the history of college basketball as evidenced by your signature

Mick routinely says to give the players all the credit after a win. Routinely. To suggest otherwise means you aren't listening or only hear what you want to hear.

Very true. And he also gives the other team credit when the Bearcats lose. After one loss this year he said he needed to coach better.

This website tracks all of the different people that do brackets, if guys are looking for someone other than just lunardi/espn.

http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

Currently 47 of the 69 brackets have UC in the tourney and the average seed is 11.8.
Not all of the brackets are updated through 2/20's games though, so we might be in more once the rest are updated to reflect this past weekend's games.

However, none of those brackets count for anything. There is but one and only bracket that counts, the one the selection committee releases at 6pm on Selection Sunday. The biggest problem with all these brackets is there are 4 games and a Big East Tourney yet to be played.
