The reasons I believe UC will win the Marquette game:

1) I believe the UC defense will be as motivated as it's been all season. They were embarrassed by the number of points Marquette put up and will want to prove a point that they're better than that.

2) UC put up enough points to win had they played defense. They got where they wanted, when they wanted when they took care of the ball.

3) I don't believe they'll react as poorly to ball pressure. There will be turnovers, I just don't believe we'll see flurries of them again.

4) Yancy and Dixon will be jacked! Last home game and nobody on Marquettes team can guard Yancy. I think he'll also want to erase the USF performance.

5) It's at home and I expect a large rowdy crowd.

Potentially, we could lose to Marquette, beat Villanova and then play West Virginia (or UCONN) in New York, and likely need that win. Gulp. We've made it hard on ourselves man.

I disagree- I think UC needs just one win from here on out. While I know the RPI won't be high- the top 50 wins is solid, and better than other bubble teams. I do think RPI may hurt UC come seeding time, though. But, it shouldn't keep them out.

Though, we have seen weird things in the past- so I can't say for sure. VT had 4 top 50 RPI wins, including beating the number 1 team in the country, an RPI of 65 and got left out. That said, beat Marquette and worse case is a 10 seed. Granted, the weirdest thing was Butler being in the top 25 (i think it was Butler) at the end of the year and still being left out.

Or when George Washington was #8 in the country and got an 8 seed. (Pops did get hurt though)

I see us losing against Marquette and it being around a 10 point loss. I see us losing against Villanova around a 5 point loss. Then we win one BE tourney game and then get left out of the NCAA tourney. My reasoning would be because this team is so inconsistent and it would be par for the season.

If losing three straight is par for the season...I am not sure which season you have been watching. If my records are correct we have won three or more games in a row three times this season and only once did we lose three in a row.

It could happen...but expecting it seems very pessimistic.

You could call it being pessimistic, but I look at it more of being a realist. I am just not confident in beating Marquette, they are playing lights out and I don't think we match well with them. Villanova game is a toss up and certainly not a guarantee. Playing them on their senior day is bad news. So based on that reasoning I would say that is fairly logical.

Villanova has no seniors that play.

Its time for mick to finally prove to the haters that he is truly one if the best coaches uc has ever had. If uc beats marquette, will the haters stop? I can only hope but I doubt it

You could call me an optimist, but I look at it more of being a realist. This UC team has only lost 3 straight once all season and while Marquette is good, they are far from unbeatable. Nova is a game this team very well could and should win. They will have much more to play for than Villanova and often times, in the Big East, the team with more to play for, often wins the game.

Okay, their final home game of the year is just as big. Oh and not to mention we beat them and they will definitely be out to give a little payback.

Are you sure you're not being a pessimist? A realist would be making points for each side of the argument. You seem to only be making arguments about why you think we will lose both.

I agree neither game will be easy...but my realist says we will find a way to win one.

All I care about is tonight right now. UC gets a big win against a top 10 team and drops their rpi and has their feet firmly planted for a NCAA bid. I'll worry about Nova later.

I agree we win tonight and we won't have to speculate. I hope Parker and Cash are close to 100% healthy.
