I know this question has probably been answered, but I have not been on here in a while and I wanted to know if someone could give me the rundown on where UC stands as far as recruiting the 2012 class? Are we in on any big recruits? It seems to me that not much is happening.
THanks

The only big recruit I know UC has a chance on is Andrew White. I think he is top 65 according to rivals. Looks like mainly between us and Kansas withb richmond and g-town having an outside chance because they are close to his home.

Edit: actually he is no. 56 according to rivals. Was trying to go from memory.

The two big names that we have a shot at are Andrew White (as mentioned above) and Christopher Obekpa. Obekpa is a long shot blocker in the NY area, but not much as been going on with his recruitment. I know he recently said UC, UCONN, St. Johns, UCLA, and a couple others were recruiting him. He supposedly likes UCONN quite a bit.

We offered Aaron Scales a couple weeks ago. He was previously committed to Missouri but opened up. He doesn't have many high-major offers but our staff saw him play and offered immediately so that should tell you something.

Other than that it will probably just be some JUCO bigs that pop up in the coming months or past recruits that decommit from coaching changes and such.

Don't hold your breath on Obekpa. He'll stay in the N. East in my opinion. Georgetown will only become a factor for White if his recruitment lingers beyond the first of the year. My guess is Kansa, V. Tech, and UC with Richmond as a darkhorse. I will agree that they will most likely sign at least one juco big. Scales fits what they're after and I'm very interested in how his recruitment will play out. They really like McClinton but it's hard to draw kids from that area away from the ACC.

I see a few scenarios that could play out. A HS school and a juco big. One big and a pg (I see this as more and more of a possibility) with a move of Davis to the 2 guard, or one big and holding a scholarship for 2013. If the right juco wing can be found that is also a possibility if they see someone that catches their eye for the late signing period.

With 11 returnees they can be somewhat selective. They have to find at least one big to go with Moog, Ellis, Jackson and Gaines imo. They need a long wing that can shoot, and with Cash gone after next season a pg is also something they will look at. I believe Davis has proven he is a combo guard with more potential as a 2 at the college level.

what do you think they are seeing/looking for in scales? his highlights are far from impressive.

They definitely need to get a big man that has an offensive arsenal. Obviously won't be as talented as Yancy, I think some forget he was a top 25 guy, but they'll need a big man who can score for the future. Mooj may be able to hold that down next year, but beyond that with Gaines, Jackson and Ellis being similar type guys that element will be lacking.

Jackson can be that scoring guy in the future. His shot has improved tremendously between last year and this year and he will continue to improve as he gets more experience. The work ethic is there.

Jackson is like Hicks was, relentless. They do not allow their size to affect their play in a negative way, rather use it to their advantage by out hustling the opponent
