Huge difference is Xavier recruits much better.

They have 6 4 stars, and multiple transfers who were the best players in their team and sometimes their league.

Look at steeles 3rd recruiting class, it’s 24th in the country,

So far, our 3rd recruiting has no one.

I’ll just say it: I don’t think Mikey, the madsens, Davenport, MAW, are starters on a top 25 team.

They are role players on a good team.

Tari is the exception. Harvey I’m still not sure on

Its hardly fair to call this recruiting class no better or worse than Xavier after 3 games into there freshman year. 90% of freshman in the country are "role" players.

Is it fair? No

But zack freemantle is making waves over there. He’s a soph and their best player by far.

Kyky Tandy is less consistent but is a better 3 level scorer than anyone in this class will be in my opinion.

As for comparison to dwon Odom, CJ wilcher, & Colby Jones.... we likely don’t sign 3 four stars in 2021 to compare to them because we literally have no high offers out. If we get anyone from 2021 it’s going to be transfers, or 3 stars. Most of the top 100 is spoken for or we have zero relationships built.

I’m not saying we won’t be good. Not at all.

I’m saying we ain’t in the same trajectory as Xavier. It’s a bad comparison because they are loaded with talent. And they have a 4 star signed already for 2021. They will continue to load their classes.

Like I think our current team is competitive.. but I don’t think it’s sweet 16 good. And the reality is it’s been two Cronin guys, both 4 stars, who carried through last year and Will through this year. Brannen has to bring in a star guard, like has to.

I’m not down, panicked or freaking out. Just calmly observing what I see. And it could change quick. I hope it does. Because we need some athletes

Has anyone heard anything about Mason's injury? Duration? I know Mason Madsen doesn't change this team by being healthy I am just curious.

2021-22 roster:

PG:
DJD
Mikey

Guards/wings:
MAW
Harvey
Gabe
Mason

Forwards:
Davenport
Dou
Tari
The White Russian

To me that team is going to be not great unless you add a true wing defender and scorer and at least 1 big, maybe 2

We'll have Lakhin too, right? I wouldn't count on him too much, but could provide depth next year.

Dou will also be a grad student so he could transfer if he doesn't get more playing time this year. I have heard nothing of that happening but I wouldn't be surprised

Anyone and everyone is a transfer candidate.

They are altering the rules for next season.

I’d say we are far more likely to lose a guy like Harvey. No reason for Dou to transfer with minutes opening

We will probably go the grad transfer route again next year for a big and maybe a wing( I don't know) but UC isn't getting the best grad transfers that are available, so we end up with Sorolla, Mcneil, we got lucky with Jaevin's cousin playing here or else we never would of been a thought for him and this year we see Rap. Now I think its to early to tell with Rap but last nights performance was dreadful. I think David DeJulius was a very nice pick up and with eligibility basically not counting this year he could be here two more years after this season. There just aren't enough talented big men out there which is why a lot of teams play small. The good and even above average big men are going to the elite programs.

I think both DD and Rap were pretty high up the list on transfer targets. I wouldn't be too concerned with what happened in year 1...that was a whirlwind of just trying to fill vacancies. But Vogt and Cumberland were good additions. Rap isn't the best...but he does add some decent quality depth to the 4/5. He should not be starting.

If CJB gets a couple transfers I would expect them to be pretty decent. I just hope he can get at least 1 HS kid that has potential.

I wonder if Vogt is going to the portal:D

If Rap and Vogt don't pick it up, they will both be coming off the bench or barely playing. Send them the Garza tapes.

Davenport is truly stealing their minutes, their bad!

Last year Fremantle didn’t look that good at all, now he’s great. Can we wait more than 3 games before we start worrying about how good the class is?

Im perfectly fine with the class. Tari is a steal... Twins can light it up just not physically ready. Davenport showing more than I expected. MAW is a 4 yr rock.

I think Brannen could maybe get 1 or 2 more 4 star types if he simply had a philosophy of grabbing any player with 4 stars. But he understands there is much more to it than that. You wind up with (some) head cases and transfers when you take that route. Brannen wants talent but the kids for the most part have to have additional qualities that are more attitude/mentality related. Work ethic, good representatives of the program, positive team first (not player first) attitude, competitive nature etc etc. I look at guys like Mikey, Davenport, and the Madsens and I think they all have some of that extra stuff Brannen wants in his players.

Also Eason could be our 2nd best player by end of the year. Don't sleep on Mikey...he looks solid as hell to me right now. MAW is very solid but not spectacular. Davenport is adding good value right now. Madsens could take a year or two but that's okay...not all frosh are insta ready. Harvey would likely be getting more run at other programs (like Xavier)...but Brannen is going to make him earn it which is how you have to do it.

If you listen to the post game presser you would easily surmise that Eason was given a chance to start for just about anything but play making. CJB said go out there and defend and get rebounds, pass the ball, etc...and then we will slowly add in your offensive skills as you prove you will take care of the ball. Eason would probably be allowed to play a lot and shoot a lot and make many mistakes at other programs on offense just because of his talent level.
