Rutgers transfer Jerome Seagears is considering USC, SD St, Va Tech, Cincy, TCU, Cal State-Bakersfield, Cal Poly & Mid Tenn St, per HS coach

I do not want Seagears, he's had a history of messing up locker rooms and mouthing off at not getting enough playing time.

It seems like all the redshirt speculation made it's way to Quadri Moore's page. I thought I'd bring it back here.

I agree with NTS that Mick isn't going to go into the season with only 2 centers. I heard a brief part of Tom Izzo's interview on Mike & Mike this morning and he said part of the reason Mich St. settled for so many 3's & jumpers was that UConn's bigs were keeping them out the paint. He accused UConn of fouling a lot on the interior as well. I would think that would resonate with Mick (not the fouling part). If you have the luxury of multiple low post players you have to use that to your advantage.

As far as others redshirting, it's impossible to know until the recruiting / transfer window is closed. All indications are that the roster isn't set. Plus, a current player might elect to leave as well.

need 3 centers? many college basketball teams now play with zero centers. uc might have been leaner than most teams on the front line with everyone weight 225 or less - but plenty of teams out there are starting 6'7" type who are bulky or long athletic types as their only true post player. 6'6' 220 lb melvin ejim played for iowa state this year. having two true full-fledged centers is an absolute surplus compared to college basketball this year. having three is pure wealth in terms of numbers at the position.

add in the fact that your 4 can slide to play 5 in a pinch in the modern game (i.e. what lawrence did this year) and the fact that shaq + another 5 pounds will be the same size as titus and will be playing a lot at the de facto 4 this year and you have plenty of guys to play the position. and that is a fact that the staff is planning on using him there. moral of the story- there will be a lot more bodies next year than minutes available in the post.

I guess I like the idea of "pure wealth". JL playing the 5 hindered his development and expecting Shaq to contribute on defense at the 4 like Titus is just not going to happen.

BYU guard Matt Carlino is transferring and will be eligible immediately. Averaged 13.7 points and 4.3 assists. I would guess he'd stay on the west coast unless a blue blood gets involved.

He's originally from Bloomington, it looks like he moved to Arizona his junior year of HS. If he wants to come back "home" it's worth a call

Carlino is from Arizona actually. He committed to IU when he was like a freshman or sophomore in high school and moved to Bloomington when he was 17 after already committed to IU. Then while a senior he decommitted from IU and went to UCLA. He then transferred from UCLA to BYU.

I see cause when I looked him up it said he went to Bloomington South HS so I assumed he was from Bloomington

@GoodmanESPN
New Mexico State's KC Ross Miller will transfer and be eligible to play next season.

Averaged 8 points and 4 assists but was suspended after the on court brawl against UVU. He originally committed to Kentucky under Billy Gillespie in like the 8th grade and is now going on his 6th college...

Confirmed w his father that North Carolina State transfer Tyler Lewis is currently visiting Butler.

That is likely where he'll land...

RT @TheCAJasonSmith: Memphis freshman guard Pookie Powell plans to transfer.

Playing time will definitely be a battle next year.

The 4 and 5 will be a competition between Lawrence, Moore,Strickland and DeBerry. Also a possibility that Clark with a good off season of strength and conditioning could see some minutes at the 4. If the right transfer comes along as a 1 year stop gap I believe MC may pull the trigger giving the new comers a opportunity to be eased into the line up.

PG will be between Caupain and Guyn. Really think MC likes his PG to be more of a combo guard then a true point. He likes PG and wings to be able to handle the ball. Think MC opts to bring in a PG next year to replace Guyn after he graduates.

Wings will be Morman,ST,JS and KJ. With the possibility that Clark may get some minutes. Hopefully MC is able to add a perimeter shooter like Graham who also has the ability to get to the rim.

Minutes will be hard to find. The season's success will depend on players with limited D-1 playing experience to develop. Strickland and DeBerry in the post and Lawrence will need to show the skills that made him a top recruit. Really think KJ and TC will take the next step. Both at times demonstrated that the game wasn't to big for them. Lawrence needs to have a big off season of strength and conditioning as it was more then obvious he wasn't developed physically enough to handle the rigors of playing against physically developed 4's at the D-1 level. Having ST become consistent both offensively and defensively is also a must. He needs to figure out shooting two FT's is just as effective as converting a high degree of difficulty shot that he usually misses without drawing a foul. Sanders can hit from the perimeter and will see minutes off the bench.

Roles will need to be defined and accepted. Some seniors may see their minutes diminish as the youngsters and addition of a newcomer may reduce their PT.

Boston University sophomore point guard Maurice "Mo" Watson is transferring.

Averaged 13 points and 7 assists while shooting 50% from the field. He will be very highly sought after, wonder if he'd consider Cincinnati.

With all these transfers I'm glad we have an extra scholarship (hopfully just 1 after Graham decides). We can be a bit selective and hopefully grab a solid guard. I gotta admit I was a little bummed we didnt have another guy commit in the fall. But now with these transfers and JD3 gone, I think having options this spring is the best way to close out this class. Im excited to see how the nrxt couple weeks unfold.

losing JDIII was a break for the program. Good kid but didn't project as a difference maker here. We should end up with a better player.

I don't see how UC would land both Graham and a 5th year transfer unless someone is going to redshirt. I think it quite likely that if UC lands Graham that they will focus that last scholarship on a standard transfer or pocket it for next year while leaving the option to pick up a midseason transfer.

Unless you get a shooter from the 3.

i think it all depends on the player and a what's position he plays.
