This isnt a rebuild. I expect to contend for a conference title.
I'm all for Mick but if we EVER don't be in contention for league title that's the year we clean house.

Its Larry Brown and his entire coaching staff are ex NBA coaches. Basically they are saying, you wanna play in the NBA? We know how to get you there. Its a pretty solid pitch. Its taken them less than 2yrs for brown to make them top 5. Its 5 other schools in Texas alone that eats before them. How does SMU out recruit us?
Teams like Providence and St. Johns brings in highly-rated players all the time to take the spots of the highly-rated guys they got the year before. How has that worked out for them?
My original point was Mason fits a school that is one player away from being great or a team that has no one at his position. We are a rebuilding team. We brought in Lance to a young team and did he take us to the next level? No. If we think Mason comes in here and makes us a bona fide top ten team then by all means bring him in. In my opinon we are a fringe top 25 team if certain players step up. I don't think that changes with Mason coming in. But I do think bringing in Mason will severely stunt the development of KJ and Mormon, takes time away from Caupain which stunts his development, makes the signing of Cobb unnecessary and possibly ruins any team chemistry we have built. And this is all assuming his 25 points a game translate to our team and style of play and he can put up those same numbers here. There's as much a possibilty of that as there is he's not a team player and a ball hog. I like the prospects of what we have on our roster at 12 right now. I think risking everything for Mason is questionable at best. Bottom line is I trust Mick. If he brings him in I will be on board with it.
Look anytime you can upgrade the talent on your team you take advantage of the situation. You won't hear many coaches complain that they have too much talent. Its Mick's job to ensure they mesh and function as a team. You can never have to many good players. Injuries occur all the time. Competition for playing time creates a hard working environment. Practicing against better players is also a huge benefit to improving ones game. If Mick can sign someone to upgrade the roster I'm sure he will not hesitate.
Coaches pass on very talented recruits/players all the time. If they don't fit what you are trying to do as a team you pass. Mick has backed off many many players a lot of fans would have liked to have seen on our team...but for one of MANY possible reasons he backed off.
I am not saying this is the case with Mason...but you don't just go nab any player who shows point production...and I think that is the case TYZ was making very well. There is a LOT more to consider.
Then don't go check in on mason if you don't want him.

All they did was give a couple phone calls. It's not like Mick and the assistants wasted time by visiting him in NY. No harm in inquiring about a player who may be able to help your team win even if you aren't sure you'd "take" him at that point.
Passing on a player and constantly improving your roster are two different things. You never stop trying to improve your team. If Mick and staff feel he is a fit they will offer him. I'm willing to bet that we never hear anything about Mason and UC again. We've been saying the same things since page 82 with no update besides him visiting 3 other places.
agree. don't think he lands here.I'm willing to bet that we never hear anything about Mason and UC again. We've been saying the same things since page 82 with no update besides him visiting 3 other places.
Why would you check on him because you like his play and how many points he score then be like nah we don't want you? That's why UC misses on a lot of players because they half ass recruit you go full throttle or none at all, you like a kid or you don't not that hard.
Then don't go check in on mason if you don't want him.

Are we after anybody else for this year? I'll take flyer on wing prospect and have sit learn for couple years.
