I cannot wait to see Broome- Cumberland and K.Williams break down defenses this year, attack the basket at every opportunity and get other teams in foul trouble, We should not lose a home game. Man are there going to be a lot of dunks!!!

We return our 3 top scorers. Cumberland was becoming one of our best players toward the end of last year. I remember hearing last year Cane was perhaps our best player (in certain aspects) from coach and several other pre season reports from people who watched first hand.

Return your top 3 and add to the starting lineup what could turn out to be your top 2 scorers is exciting to say the least!! It is quite possible that could happen but right now it's just speculation.

WSU returns all their best players which is great for them but they can only hope to be slightly better by virtue of players being one more year experienced. On the other hand when you consider we could POTENTIALLY add our top 2 scorers on top of our returning top 3 scorers...we could be in for a bust out.

I am absolutely stoked for this season!! I wish the season was starting tomorrow.

For many teams it is easy to pick out who your top scorer is going to be. We have at least 4 possibilities for top scorer and if coach can light a fire under Gary we could have 5. They all have the POTENTIAL to score 15ppg although Gary would need some prodding. He's just a little to nice and selfless but I would love to see Gary get "mean" and assertive.

I definitely see us having 5 players averaging double digits and possibly as many as 12+ each. Obviously they can't all average 15 and it will depend on the dynamics on how it ends up shaking out.

Rothstein podcast was AAC preview. Had us 2nd and in a tier with just WSU.

-Evans and Clark 1st team
-Named Broome first for newcomers
-Named Cumberland first for most improved
-Named Williams first for Freshman

Pretty fair assessment. WSU is the only team in the AAC that returns more than we do even though I think we have the more talented squad.

I'm excited for how competitive the league is going to be compared to last year. Even teams expected to be at the bottom like Tulane and ECU return some good players.

Who wants to bet the over under at 80 ppg this year?

If we can increase possessions by around 5 per game and maintain our efficiency from last year we will be right around 80 ppg. Last year we were at 67.3 possessions per game at around 1.1 ppp for 74.3 ppg.

We were ranked around 325 last year in possessions per game. If we can add 5 possessions we can be around the top 140 at 72.3 and add 5.5 pts to our 74.3 ppg from last year. That would be 79.8ppg.

Not only will we have PG's pushing pace but we will "reportedly" be pressing more. I could see our PPP going up this year too with easier transition buckets as well maybe getting a little better from 3.

When the shot clock was reduced by 5 seconds we added about 11 ppg in scoring. If we can reduce another 3 seconds per possession by pushing pace and pressing a bit...we could add the additional 6 points we need to crack 80. As many times as we plodded up the court last year I could see us shaving these possession times down quite a bit.

I want our Pace to Model after Louisville. They ranked 195 in pace. However offensively they ranked 67th and defensively 348th.

Overall the pace will be mid level but we can still play fast on offense. Good defensive teams don't let good shots off early in the shot clock so on that end of the ball we are cutting into overall possessions. BUT when we have the ball, we should be pushing on missed baskets and getting the best shot we can in under 16 seconds.

Last year we used 18.7 seconds of clock on offense and forced other teams to use 18.1

Louisville used 16.2 seconds on offense and forced other teams to use 18.7

Us using 18.7 on offense means were letting a lot of teams get set on defense. We can drop 2 seconds off that # and then keep our defense the same, we will drastically move up the pace rankings and thus put more points on the board

That is almost precisely what I would like to see! I think we can shave 2.5 seconds on Offense but I would be okay with holding steady on D. Not sure we will improve there.

I did not realize Gary Clark will likely join the 1,000 point club in his first game of the season needing only 4 points if the source is correct (sports reference). He has a legit chance to finish in the top 15 or so. He's never even reached 11 ppg for a season. Now THAT is consistency!

Evans will likely join the 1,000 point club this year as well around mid season. If Evans stays all 4 years he could land near the top 5.

Anyone know where to find an updated list of career scoring/stats at UC? The archives at GoBearcats are outdated. Unacceptable!

Looks like it would take an average of 10ppg for 3 seasons of 34 games to break the 1,000 point club or 15 ppg for 2 seasons at 34 games.

Kyle with an outside chance if he can average 15 ppg over 36 games or a little over 14 ppg if we can play 38 games+.

In the last 7 season we have played

36 games
33
34
34
34
35
35

For a 34.5 avg. If we make the conference finals again and make it to (or hopefully past) the second weekend of the dance...we could best last year.

It would be interesting to see what the fans think of our current batch of starters compared to Cronin's best recruits at each position. Who would you take at each position before our starters?

Washington
Clark
Evans
Cumberland
Broome

SK? Born Ready (1 year)? Gates? Vaughn? Caupain/Cash?

I would put SK in there no doubt. After that I would probably take my chances with the current bunch.

This is not a knock on the current team but if I am judging this based on entire career for former players and career to this point for current players, my team looks like this:

Vaughn
SK
Evans
Clark
Gates

Hard to argue with your line-up.
