2017 General Recruiting

Can someone explain to me how offers work? I know this sounds really dumb but a few times a week we see Cincinnati has offered so and so. So right now we have 1 open scholarship for next year. What if David Collins Isiaha Mike and Amauri Hardy out of nowhere decide they want to come to Cincinnati I mean what happens then, do we just get to pick who we want? I mean if someone holds an offer to come here it sounds like it's in their hands not ours? So I don't get why we have 10 people right now with offers yet we can only have 1 more player?

I may be wrong. But I think any coach (assistants) can offer someone, but the final decisions comes down to Mick. The assistants may offer and then eventually convince mick he should be a take(how Mick did with Logan to Huggs) , but until Mick actually sees the player and talks to the player im not sure that offer is 100% committable yet. And if a player commits i think the same applies. I dont think its 100% accepted until Mick has the final say
 
Yeah I'm not sure we'd take a commitment from David Collins at this point. It can be a conditional thing.

I don't think its a big deal. Kentucky and other big schools offer and they don't even know who is leaving or coming back. Even if the player excepts the offer, I think the school can still get out of it
 
Yeah I figured it wasn't a big deal with all the offers that circulate but just was wondering how serious we want someone if we hand out an offer? Or if it's just normal to send out offers to a lot of kids.
 
When I was replying about the commitments, I was think of Darryl Edwards for some reason(guy who said he committed to UC like 4 years ago, but never had an offer.) Well Hes back. Not to us, but just saw on twitter hes looking at LSU, Utah and UNLV

Haha nice! I love me some Daryl Edwards. Glad he's getting some looks. He's a BearcatTalk Legend.

I saw he visited Iowa State and will decide between them, UNLV, and LSU.
 
Wouldn't mind another pg but if not I think we will be alright. My biggest want would be a big guy for 2018. Mike or Bragg would be great. Don't know if we are in on either
 
Just watched John calipari's 30 for 30. I would like a one and done to be mixed in every so often. Mick should be able to sell his weight program, defensive improvements and the free will to score to a player every few seasons a la lance stephenson. If he did this with a roster like we currently have we could seriously contend for a final four. I'm a Cincy fan for life but I'm am jealous of UKs alum. They will recruit for he next 10 years solely off wall, cousins, Davis.

Those guys will not come here unless we start having a lot of success and get more exposure or if we have some connection with them. If it's between us and UK or duke or someone like that, they will choose them every time and I don't blame them.

It's more so the conference not allowing us to get any one and dones to me. Fla st, LSU, Washington, all have gotten multiple 5 stars in the past few years. I like the players we have gotten recently but just one star player mixed in would make this team special. (Even more so)

The conference doesnt help either. I agree, that's the one thing we are missing. That's the difference between us and the big boys
