I’m very happy for Mick, and I’m not surprised at all. I said it the day he signed with UCLA, he would never have to worry about recruiting again, the school recruits itself, it would all be just his coaching ability. And I knew he’d be successful. Wish it could have been at UC, but I’ll always love Mick and couldn’t be happier for him. I think they’ve got a chance against Michigan too, I think Alabama is just as good as Michigan.

Pac12 getting three teams in the elite eight. The AAC has the same number of teams as the Big10, ACC, and BigEast combined.

Even more impressive knowing they only started with 5, and only reason they couldn’t get four in elite 8 was because two had to play each other.

Yea. And with his dad in the stands to see it.

It wasn’t us that needed to move on from Mick. It was Mick who needed to move on from us to reach his potential.

I’m so happy for the guy!

This is absolutely true, and yeah it’s awesome to see Hep there I can imagine how happy he is for his son

All that shit talking from the national media that mick was the 7th choice. Jamie Dixon nor Rick Barnes are taking this team to the elite 8

Mick Wooden

I was the biggest Huggins fan I can imagine. But as soon as he was on another team I was done. He has had success and I’m sure Cronin will. But I don’t and won’t ever have more than one team to root for. Not wishing the worst but not wishing the best either. UC or bust!! Forever! Even if they suck for 30 years. All other teams and coaches can suck it

My rooting interest hierarchy is:
1) UC
2) AAC
3) Non-P6
4) Underdog

Other than that I just like to see a good game. I don't root for or against ex-UC coaches.

Because fandom is personal my fan hierarchy is:
1. UC
2. UCLA (while Mick is there)
3. Houston (Sampson Is GOD)
4. Underdogs
5. AAC teams
6. Whoever is playing Xavier.

Uc will always come first but since UC & UCLA rarely play, rarely compete for recruits and the guy coaching them is a cincinnati Guy, I think it’s absolutely fine.

Fandom is personal. There is no right way to do it. And my fandom for UCLA is temporary, for UC its permanent, and I’d never be caught in UCLA gear.

Also think it’s fun that mick has brought west side grit and toughness to Westwood. An under dog mentality even.

How in the hell do you root for Houston? No wonder they kicked you off BCJ

Howd that work out for you? Lol. This is what Mick could have been at UC if he could have got recruits. And he is down multiple star players as well. Mick at UCLA will win in March, he finally is getting great offensive players and just having to teach them great defense. Because we all know he isn’t an offensive minded guy and that caused a lot of issue getting middle of the road recruits. As he starts getting 3-4 top 100 guys a year, he will make some runs.
Amazing how that offensively challenged coach has a team averaging 78.5 points/game in the tourney on the way to the elite 8!

That’s what happens when he gets guys who know how to play offense and he just has to teach them how to play defense.

I can be a fan of more than one team, especially in a game like college basketball where there’s low probability they even play. Obviously Bearcats will always be fat and away number one, but I’ve been a fan of Gonzaga and their brand of basketball for 15 years. And since mick went to UCLA they were added to the list. I’ll root for huggins but because we played WVU I never got into their team.

That first half by Houston was more of a display of toughness. They dominated the paint and the glass. Oregon St did not handle the double teams well.
