Still weeks to go, it's not over yet.
We will get some players, but anyone who expects to add three starters has unrealistic expectations. Fans have dreamed the transfer portal into something it really isn't. There are a lot of players in it, but there are only so many good players. Even fewer players who Wes has a prior connection to (which helps a lot in recruiting transfers).
It would take at best a top 100 (and possibly closer to top 60) transfer to bring a major upgrade over players we have. Considering there were 100 teams above us in the transfer portal, it's a challenge to get one of those players, much less two or three.
Top guys want to play against top teams (which we can't offer in the AAC) and want to play in the NCAA tournament (which we can't guarantee).
Not to mention the rumors going around that guys also want to get paid (via NIL). Chad mentioned in a recent podcast that he heard there's a guy who wanted the coach to have a half-a-million offer in order for him to even talk to them.
Player development has been and will continue to be the key to success. Most (and possibly all) of our starters for next year are currently on the team. Wes has to turn their potential into on court success.
True, and I suppose we don’t really know who the staff is serious about in the portal. But there are guys coming off to lessor programs that invalidate some of what you’re saying. Just appears Wes is not the dynamic personality people were sold on.
He put together the best freshman class in the last 5+ years. Skillings, Reed and Tolentino are each individually among our top 5 recruits in the last 5 years, so he's doing something right.
Rayvon drops his top 5 tomorrow
Rayvon's announcement comes at 8 pm this evening.

Who are you referring to? Cam Hayes went to LSU. Trevon Brazile went to Arkansas. Payton Sparks decided to return to Ball St. Are there players we were talking to who committed to lower conference schools?True, and I suppose we don’t really know who the staff is serious about in the portal. Dashawn Davis PG to Miss St.
Xavier Pinson down to Miss St & Xavier and
with Davis to Miss St ….. ?
He looks like a 3 and D type who would be a better version of MAW. Very low turnover and foul rates, and low usage on offense. Has attempted more threes than twos in his career, but shoots it well at 37%. No dunk attempts, bad rebounder, and doesn't get to the free throw line.We made the top 6 for Sean McNeil from WVU
