I was reading in a forum of another sight earlier and someone posted a question that no one seemed to answer but it struck my curiousity. Maybe someone in here knows the answer. Over the past 5 seasons, there has not been 1 white scholarship player on the bearcat roster with the exception of Adam H. who was from Europe. I looked over the offers and targets for the next 2 years and still did not see a white player in the pipeline. Is there a reason for that?

I wasnt implying racism at all and I know none of the UC staff have that nasty habit also. But it is definitely odd how the Bearcats have not had a white scholarship player in the program since Ryan Fletcher I believe? I mean come on, something is up with this dont you think?

Reverse discrimination. If a black player wasn't on the team, half of cincinnati would be all over this.

We hear about percentages in baseball, football, hockey.....yet ignore it when they get skewed 'THE RIGHT WAY'.

Gotta love the PC Police and what they deem acceptable.

We have recruited numerous white players and still are. RJ hunter, Mitch McGary, and Phillip Jurick are all being recruited currently.

Maybe some thoughts on why we haven't.

- We are an urban campus that may not appeal as much to the GCL type of athlete.

- We always recruit by telling kids that we want an uptempo up and down game. This is may not be appealing to white kids or want to run sets and play a half court game.

Simple, Cronin is a protege of both Huggs and Pitino, and his style of play shows that. Race has nothing to do with it, as the systems generally are comprised of "athletes". When you look at both Huggs and Pitino (Especially Pitino, who I think Cronin closer resembles) you see most of this evident in the wings.

How many times to you hear the following when describing recuits/players for these programs: "Combo Guard" "Slasher" "Pt Forward" etc.

For Micks style your recruit a roster full of athletes, and generally the wings are long, many times bigger, and/or can jump out the gym. If you look at Pitino's team the year they were the 1 seed.a perfect example would be Williams.

The protypical "white player" does not really fit our system, unless they're a post player. It's as easy to explain as that. I'm sure Mick would be more than happy to sign a quality big, regardless of skin color. But let's be honest, there's not a plethora of white kids that are BE caliber to begin with. And like Greatone said, a kid from Moeller may be more inclined to go to the smaller Jesuit campus down the road. (Josh Duncan, Griffin Mackenzie...)

You are implying racism, plain and simple. To bring up that there are no white players on the team, and then say that you are not implying racism is moronic. Let me guess, you must be white. What do you think is up? Enlighten us, if you don't think this is due to racism.

Its funny Juliepitzer, that there was a female poster on BCN last year, namely, the Beacon of Power who brought up this exact topic. Additionally, she brought up that there was a movement to get rid of Cronin and Thomas, that she was still upset that he had left for Louisville, and that it would be nice to see Cronin wear a red tie. Jee, it seems funny that you would bring up the same nonsense. She also had very little to add to the forum, and posted mainly after losses. Just like you, her constant was her disdain for Cronin. Wonder why there is so much similarity between the two of you. You should be ashamed to bring up this crap. When I root for a team, I do so by the color of their jersey, not the color inside the jersey. Try doing the same.

RJ Hunter is not 100% caucasion, at least I do not think so.

Anbuc just caught JuliePitzer. Awesome. I think it was Beacon of Power that told me I can put my $ where my mouth was regarding UCATS and season tickets, then offered me her 4 tickets in the lower arena (gave me section #, row, seats, etc.) for X amount of dollars.....only to realize that her offer was substantially higher than the actual going rate through the ticket office. Obviously, this person was: (a) a complete idiot; (b) did not have season tickets at all, and talked a big game; and/or (c) a troll.

GreatOne answered most of the reasons for a lack of "white" players. Look around the BE....there are not too many white players. Let's be frank: the best athletes and basketball players in the NCAA are black.

We go after the best, so naturally, we get black athletes and players. Nothing wrong with it at all. We've recruited our fair share of white players, but they go elsewhere.

Currently recruiting: Mitch McGary ('11 PF), Jaren Sina ('13 PG), Phil Jurick ('11 C).

Cincinnati is no different than any other urban college that competes on a national level.

So which person on here is Thomas Master then? Wasn't that Beacon of Power's husband? Or was it just a coincidence that he had a wife that brought up the red tie too? Or are Beacon of Power and Thomas Master one and the same, just guy/girl girl/guy who uses different characters to bash Cronin? So, are Beacon of Power, Thomas Master, Juile Pitzer all the same person? I need answers.

So many questions....Who knew talkin Bearcat hoops could be a such an mind f#ck?:D

 racist much?! Ive drafted plenty of white guys who LOVE to run and are very athletic to my NBA team (xbox 360).

When I was younger I used to create a player when I played video games that looked exactly like me, including the white skin, and was rated a 99 in everything. This player would always go on to tear it up and become an allstar or allpro or all american.

Why can't Cronin recruit more of these players?

Lol. When I was in college we would all play NBA Live on Genesis and do the same thing. A few of us had created teams saved for head to head games. Mine was always a 5'10 "Powder" looking guy with 99's across the board at point and other created players named D Flint, D Burton, A Long, and D Fortson. I think I had a D Baker and J Julson (for laughs) on the pine too. Basically it was always two teams playing eachother with 99's at every spot. I just created myself with all my favorite UC players. Good times.

I'm pretty sure it's a rule that if you play any basketball game, you create yourself and max that shat out.

My eligibility has expired...

My goodness, I am sorry I posted the question. I had no idea I would be assaulted for asking. For your imformation btw, I read the post by a gentleman named armybrat20101 in the Cincinnti.com forum and found it interesting. Just wanting to get an intelligent take on the question. I am sorry Mr. Anbuc and Mr. Bearcat Alum for upsetting you.

Also, I have no idea who Mr. Bacon nor, for that matter, a thomas master are. Why I am being tied to them is beyond me but I will stop posting questions. Seems to annoy some when I do.

i think what you asked got blown way out of proportion. its a common question that people ask. sometimes when non-uc fans watch games with me, they ask when was the last time a white guy played for uc. its not racist to bring up, its an honest question. when you have 2 white scholarship players over the span of a decade- its not racist to bring up. its an obvious observation. just because you bring up the fact of race in a question does not make you inherently racist. most white guards who play high major ball are good shooters. i personally would love great shooters, white or black. people here need to ease up.
