So, Connecticut got their asses kicked by Towson 18-33. UCF looked pretty good beating up Akron 38-7, fortunately we don't play them. Rutgers is in a dog fight with Fresno State and it appears they have good recievers and despite all who left, a pretty good defense also. Should be interesting, taking in SMU tomorrow.

Rutgers ends up losing in OT; not a great start for the AAC, though thats a tough loss at Fresno State.

I agree. I watched That game and it was sloppy mixed with terrible defense. They had 3 turnovers on 3 straight possessions. Reminded me a lot when UC opened at Fresno St a while back.

Shouldn't have fired Jim Leavitt, it all went down hill after they fired him.....

They will turn it around but it's going to take while. Good coach but totally new system.

I have to admit I didn't mind watching Boise St. get beat after all the posturing and back and forth with their Big East / AAC membership

state champion Legacy and Fairview, which won three out-of-state games at the High Five Classic in California in late November.

I stopped watching UC football during the first half of the USF game. I am ready for basketball season to start!

I hate to call you out, but that's the exact attitude that does keep our program from going to that next level. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and certainly entitled to spend their money how they see fit, but this town as a whole just doesn't support this school. A couple of rough games and the football team gets written off by many. The same will happen if we lose a few early basketball games. I got two free tickets in the mail to Friday's game for being a season ticket holder for basketball and since I already have tickets for football I was going to give them away and no one wanted to go. We'll whine about not being in a better conference but reality is this program will never be big time as long as the fans don't support the team. We are indifferent as a fanbase. We want the big things to come to us and then we'll decide to follow them. The crowds at the games still disgust me. No one stands to cheer the team on, we don't have chants, we don't make noise on defense, we only cheer when they score. Hopefully with the renovations and new premium seating we will see some more money pumped into the program. They have 18 luxury suites that go for $100,000 a year with a ten-year commitment and they already sold them. That is $18 million in revenue generated. We'll continue to whine about 5/3rd arena and not support the program. One thing I can guarantee is a new arena won't be built without money being generated into the program. With ticket sales around 9,000 per game there will be no support from the UC administration to commit money for a new arena. Plain and simple. Anything short of going nearly undefeated through non-conference season will not excite the masses to come to games. And if they do your season is half over anyway. Sorry for the rant guys, but it's tough being a die-hard for this team sometimes. I want to see great things for my school. I want to talk sports and it be positive not all the negatives we see or all the reasons we won't support them. The good news is enrollment is up and student interest has been high, so that bodes well for future supporters. My biggest concern is we freeze the students out by moving bball games downtown and we don't gain some of those future supporters. Most big time donors are going to be alumni. Even big-time corporate sponsors are typically alumni of the university they funnel their money into. I support these programs because as a student it was easy and free to attend the games and I got hooked. Now with a little money in my pocket I support the programs and go to the games, win or lose. My drop in the bucket doesn't do much, but I do my part. Not everybody has the extra cash to donate or to buy tickets and that is fine. It's just the indifference of the city that gets under my skin. And the sense of entitlement some fans have like we should be the best without having to do the work first to build the program up. A large portion of our basketball fanbase seem to think we should be a top-ten team just because. We think we should get five-star recruits just because.

I wasn't a fan of the Tuberville hire, and watching the team is not fun or entertaining. I'd rather do more productive things with my time on Saturday mornings/afternoons that watch this team play AAC competition. The whole process of going to a game takes up an entire day....

Will be at the game next saturday though, the bball exhibition, I mean!

I think you just proved his point, though you're entitled to do what you want with your time and money.

I have been one of the few that isn't delusional enough to think Cincinnati is worthy of a Power 5 conference invite or that one is coming any time soon. People blindly have faith in the Ono/Babcock combination but they have done nothing to show they have any idea of what they are doing. As usual in this city, we are about 5 years behind the pace.

As far as accomplishments go, we should've been in a power 5 conference long ago. Unfortunately, it is all about the $$$, so we will be a few years behind, like you said. Can't blame Ono and Babcock, because in the end, no president and AD combo decides whether you move up with the big boys. Your marketability, location, athletic budget, and academics are what gets you into a new conference. Ono and Babcock can help push for it, but there are many more factors than just Whit and Santa.

What should they have done, oh wise one?

It is not anything that Ono or Babcock could/can control. The factors involved in getting a P5 invite were/are many. I agree that it is unlikely that UC will get a P5 invite anytime in the near future as the door has basically been shut. The ACC, which is where UC's natural fit would be, is full. The Big 12, which would be a geographic disaster for UC, may expand one day but as of now they a good splitting the revenue 10 ways. Fox TV will have a lot of input in the schools choosen should the Big 12 ever expand, it will come down to TV market size as much as anything else. Schools such as South Florida and Central Florida, because of their TV markets, are probably ahead of UC in the pecking order of Big 12 expansion.

That article makes sense. Ultimately, when TV money dictates the need to expand, the Big 12 will do so and I think UC has a better than average chance to be included. I would be surprised if it happens in the next couple of years though. I think it will happen once Fox Sports One expands with more channels.
