A look ahead at conference play...

I already saw some improvement on offense this past week vs. Temple. The passing game opened up a lot more and amazingly we moved the ball downfield and put up touchdowns in doing so. I'll agree that this year has been a disappointment thus far. I get that a coaching transition can be tough, but we have talent in place and good team chemistry. The x's and o's might be slightly different but they're still x's and o's. Run the plays and execute. I think the play calling is partly to blame, but also the lack of good quarterback play. I'm hoping Kay's shoulder was the issue and that that is behind him now.

I stopped watching UC football during the first half of the USF game. I am ready for basketball season to start!

I hope you tuned back in:) We can still get a BCS game if the right things happen. Either way, we were able to make this season respectable. The coaches have done a nice job of adjusting on the fly.

This is quite possibly the worst schedule I have ever seen. The teams Cincinnati beat have ZERO wins over FBS schools. This team is bad and it will continue to get worse after this year. Doesn't matter to me anymore though...

I just love revisiting fan over-reaction. Not the soft schedule comment mind you. While this statement about our team could end up being true...I am not sure it is based on much more than emotion. Did TT kill it at Texas Tech? No. Did he win a National Championship in his career? Yes. Have we seen a total melt down of our season? Nope.

Yes, we have played a soft schedule...to no fault of our current coach. We just picked up some nice home and home games series against Miaimi. Not an away game with no home game. Tough to do when you are UC.

I live in Florida. I am so happy we have USF, UCF and now Miami on our schedule for the next few years. I couldn't have asked for any more unless we can get a home and home with UF or FSU:) I am looking at getting to see two games a year in Florida (or more if I fly to Cincy).

He has not won a national title. He was coach of the year at Auburn and led them to an undefeated season in 2004, but the team finished third behind undefeated USC and undefeated Oklahoma. Those two played for the title and Auburn won the Sugar Bowl. It was the last time an SEC school did not win at least a share of the national title and the last time there was 3 BCS teams finishing undefeated to really have a debate where one team got screwed out of a chance to play in the title game doing everything they had to do to get there. Auburn started off the year unranked and the other two teams started the year ranked in the top ten if not the top five which really hurt Auburn's chances in the human polls to surpass one of the two.

Ha ha ha. Thanks for setting me straight. I guess the point remains the same but I appreciate the info.

My dad went to Auburn, so I am very familiar with that 2004 team. I root for UC now obviously, but I grew up an Auburn fan. That was a good team. Jason Campbell was their QB and they had Carnell "Cadillac" Williams and Ronnie Brown as their running backs. Interesting, too, that their third string running back was Brandon Jacobs before he transferred out to get more playing time. Can you imagine having three NFL running backs in the same class competing for PT?

Are you saying Abernathy, Williams, and Green are not going pro?

Ummm....of course I'm not saying that. But if they all end up #1 rb's in the NFL at some point I would be highly surprised. Plus it's not a fair comparison, they're not all in the same class... I saved some face without bad-mouthing my team, right? :D

They also had Kenny Irons on the roster, who was drafted by the Bengals in the second round the next year. He got hurt in the first preseason game and didn't come back.

To be fair, Jacobs transferred out before that 04 season, so he wasn't on that years roster. Auburn used to be a factory for NFL RB's. Obviously, Bo Jackson went there. On top of Williams, Brown, Jacobs and Irons other NFL RB's include James Brooks, Rudi Johnson, Stephen Davis, Ben Tate, Joe Cribbs, Brent Fullwood, Lionel James to name a few. For a good while there if you were the starting RB at Auburn you were pretty much assured to make an NFL roster.

Wow. First of all, the schedule was complete when he got here except for the conference re-alignment timing which led to re-scheduling games quickly and with most other teams already locked in to their 2013 games. Surely, you understand that seasons are scheduled years in advance. We had several alternate teams ready to play before this happened. Hopefully, you've done your research on looking at what our OOC schedule is now for future years. OSU, Miami FL, BYU, Michigan... No issue with pointing out that this year's schedule is weak, but you need to put it in the proper context. Great schedules in future years. You don't seem to be a Tuberville fan, but I hope you aren't insinuating he was responsible for this years schedule.
