Tomorrow is AAC media day. It starts with the coaches roundtable hosted by Len Elmore will be at 9 am and I believe it will stream live on the American's website. I am expecting to see Cincinnati being picked to finish 4th slightly above Tulsa and below Memphis.

Good stuff. Its funny to hear these guys talk because for 3 years you really never have heard from them. In a serious question, does Shaq have a speech impediment or do you think that was nerves? Brutal interview to watch.

I've never noticed it in the hundreds of times I've spoken to him. Had to be nerves...

I enjoyed the GG interview. I sense a new level of maturity for GG. I know everyone on here has been wishing long and hard that GG's role will be diminished, but I think the opposite will be true. I anticipate he will have a really good season and will be one of the keys to our success. I believe his 3-pt. shooting & FT shooting will be vastly improved and his defense will be stellar as usual. I'm hoping we see an improvement in his court vision and distributing the rock, but overall, I'm expecting a big season from him. Our depth and talent at the guard position will be the team's strength.

L-T I think most like myself have no problem with GG we just like Caupain better. Yes there are some outliers who bashed him but by and large I think most just thought TC demonstrated he was the better player based on his time on the court and statistically.

That said I agree that he will be better this season because he is healthy. We will need him to be better and certainly his leadership.

I doubt he plays more than 10-12 minutes a game at the one...

Another 10-12 minutes a game...

20-24 minutes a game would be a significant contributor at the guard positions, especially in light of the depth we have at those positions. I doubt any single guard will average much more than that per game.

I also like TC better, but I have a feeling about GG that we're about to start liking him a lot more. Remember, the whole universe was about to toss JJ in the trash heap after his junior year, and then his senior year happened. One thing Mick has been good at is producing seniors who suddenly shock us by how they play. SK was another good example of that last year. My gut tells me that GG will be no different.

24 is probably right around the max. I could maybe see Troy going a little higher if he plays well running the offense...

I had heard we will see TC and GG on the floor together. I think the move will benefit G but my hope is KJ takes ownership at some point of the 2. Am I off in believing we will see some three guard sets?

To L-T's point about JJ and SK...JJ blossomed because he finally realized he wasn't a perimeter player and put the work in to be a post player. If he could of shot ft's like the bigs we have now he would of had an even better year. SK did have a great senior year, but his other three years were pretty solid too. You don't become the number 2 scorer in school history by only having a leap in your senior year. But I get what you're saying.

Got this from the Enquirer:

SMU coach Larry Brown, a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, lamented the lack of fundamentals he sees in the game today.

Then he cited Cronin as a coach whose teams play the game the way it should be played.

"He gets no credit," Brown said, "but they defend, they play hard and they share the ball."

Cronin might not get the credit nationally that Brown believes he deserves, but his work at UC has not gone completely unnoticed. He was named the AAC Coach of the Year last season.

Great find Jeff. The respect Mick gets from coaches is more important than from media people!
