And UC is a 6 seed!!

As long as Ricardo Ratliffe doesn't beat us I'll be okay. I thought UC was going to land him and he's been a pretty good player for them this year.

I don't like playing an under seeded Missouri in the first round. They were in the last four in?? The committee has lost their minds. Then a scary match up versus potentially UCONN in round 2. I'm not a huge fan of this draw in anyway. I'd take G'town's 6 or St. John's 6 in a heartbeat.

Mizz was in the top 10 for part of the year and in the top 25 quite a bit. That is a tough draw compared to the other 11 seeds. Not saying we can't beat them but we get a ridiculous tough first two games considering we are a 6 seed.

St Johns has a cake walk. They roll into the sweet 16.

I noticed 3 Big East teams were 6 seeds and 2 were 3 seeds, so it was inevitable one of us got paired up. At least its a team we've played and we'll have a little extra motivation in beating, assuming we get there.

i think it sucks that Gtown gets to play the winner of USC or VCU when UC beat them twice (killing them once) and the Bearcats have to play Mizz...

i much rather switch temple places and play penn st first then play san diego state. we easily got the toughest draw for the 6 seeds. missouri should at least have been a 9 thats ridiculous.
but here is a cheers to making the tourney, i rather be complaining about our seeding than having no reason to watch thursday

One of my friends is a big Missouri fan and I spoke with him briefly today. He doesn't sound very confident about their chances against UC. The first thing he said to me was, "I was really hoping we wouldn't see a Big East team in the first round." He said their strengths are their guards and their major weakness is their size. Both of their bigs are very inconsistent and he said that Ratliffe was good early in the year but has been average at best the last month. They have lost 4 of 5 and he said their guards have had trouble making shots lately. The only game they won in the last 5 was a first round Big 12 Tourney game against Texas Tech who was awful. Expect for UC to have a major advantage inside and on the boards. Missouri will press most of the game. UC will have to take care of the basketball and make Missouri pay for pressing. I look for UC to not extend much pressure against Missouri's guards unless they have to. He also asked me about our depth. He said if we only play 7 or 8, we'd be in trouble. I told him UC plays 10-12 depending on the match ups.

good info... hopefully the Bearcats come out hungry and play some crazy defense, just got to hope they aren't looking forward to a UConn rematch and overlook Mizzou, I have confidence Mick will have their heads in the right place

Gottleib? just picked Missouri on ESPN; didn't think much of Cincinnati or Gates
I hope everyone picks Missouri, we seem to need motivation at times.

Could be worse. The first round matchup is very winnable. Can't say I like seeing UConn coming up next. But that's a problem to worry about later.

UC's guards will certainly be tested by Missouri's pressure. I think this was the most poorly seeded tournament in history there are so many head scratchers that defy common sense. This is considering the parameters they have to work with (ie conference match ups and regular season rematches). Not to mention UAB and VCU even making it.

The good news about a potential UCONN matchup in Round 2 if you win against Missouri is that UC will not need to spend too much time preparing for UCONN thus they can turn all of their attention to Missouri in practice over the next few days.

Gottlieb reminds me of Colon (I meant to write that) Cowherd. His bias always shows thru and he is a B12 guy. That said I expect a tough game. Mizzou is not as good away from home but Anderson is a good coach.

Big Trouble
Five teams that are reeling at just the wrong time:

Villanova (26). Coughing up a 16-point lead in the Big East tourney to miserable South Florida was only the latest sign of decline for the Wildcats. They've lost five straight and seven of their past nine, and they haven't beaten an NCAA tournament team since Feb. 5. They bear strong resemblance to last year's Villanova team, which had a No. 2 seed and was lucky to win one game before being blown out by Saint Mary's.

Purdue (27). The Boilermakers have had a great season since the October injury to Robbie Hummel, but they aren't finishing strong. They were shocked in the final game of the regular season at woeful Iowa, then were routed in their only Big Ten tourney game by Michigan State. In the last 63 minutes the Boilers have played, they've led for only 30 seconds.

Georgetown (28). The Hoyas are winless since the hand injury to No. 2 scorer and leading distributor Chris Wright. They've averaged only 51.5 points in those four defeats. If Wright cannot come back and play effectively, this will be a short tournament for Georgetown.

Missouri (29). The Tigers have been pretty lousy away from home, and the NCAA doesn't have any games scheduled for Columbia this week. They've lost four of their past five and haven't beaten an NCAA tourney team since Feb. 5.

Tennessee (30). The Volunteers' record in their past 11 games: 4-7. They haven't won two in a row since late January/early February. Watching them play, you can at times feel your own basketball IQ dwindling by osmosis.

The problem with some of those guesses is that the NCAA Tournament gives everybody a chance to redeem themselves. The Bearcats have to focus and give all their energy to winning one game. That's all that matters. One game. Lose it and the next doesn't come till next November.

I have this gut feeling Mizzu will snap out of their funk, play lights out against us, then go back to their slump against UConn and get their butts handed to them. Although, I also don't think that will happen but being a Cincy sport fan, I wouldn't be surprised. There is no way they are an 11 seed, mind boggling. If we can make some shots we are in great shape because I think our D will be on point. No worries there.

I think VCU will win their play in game...and then upset St. Johns in the first round. St. Johns can be good....but can be awful too.

Also, I would not be worrying about UCONN if I were UC.....need to focus on a very good Missouri team. We have trouble against good offenses.....watch a replay of the Notre Dame game if you don't believe that.

I don't agree with us potentially playing a second round game against UCONN, I also thought you couldn't play a team from your conference until the sweet 16....guess I was wrong.
