We're not getting any love right now. Most people have us losing to Mizzou- or, if we're lucky enough to surprise them we get pasted by UCONN.

I understand the skepticism. UC has something to prove after a long absence and let's be honest they have games where they simply do not come ready to play and the energy isn't there. Frankly I thought the energy in the BEast Tournament was horrible. Even in the USF blowout. This is new to these guys. They're learning how to handle success. What I want to see is 40 minutes of effort plain and simple. You have to play with energy in this tournament and defense is a premium.

CBS College Sports Bracket Breakdown picks UC as a sleeper team, calling them "the most underpublicised Big East team in history".

I think the first game will be tough. But its the NCAA tourney, There will be good teams every time. But I am very excited to think if we get past the first game, the road looks good. We know uconn, and the other teams we will face do not and should not scare us. Out of all the 2 seeds I wanted to play San Diego.

I think there are a few things out of our control that work out to our benefit in the first round matchup.

1. We play in Georgetown's gym. We have played there before and played well.

2. We play at night. We all know how bad we are for noon games.

3. Missouri has to travel a lot farther than we do. DC is not terribly far from Cincinnati, buts its quite a haul from Missouri.

As far as the venue we certainly did benefit from being the better seed in this one. One would expect the proximity coupled with this being the first time UC has been in in six seasons for there to be many more UC fans there than Mizzou fans.
