Sloppy moments but I am loving the pick and roll/high screen stuff we're working out this year. Hope Guyn is okay. Rubles and Jackson are a good duo, just need to figure out how to keep Jackson on the floor. First time this season I've seen Lawrence hit a jump shot and Shaquille Thomas gives me hope for next year. Sanders didn't do terrible but he did have that one pass from Kilpatrick he let go for a TO.
Coupain did well also. I feel bad for Johnson, he's doing everything he can but that damn basket keeps caughing up the ball XD

You know, the good thing about this weak stretch is the youngins getting their work in. It may turn out to be a blessing come conference play.

Hard to take much from this game IMO.... Appalachain state was terrible.

KJ has got to start making some shots.... Its all there for him except finishing.

Hopefully G is okay. Been banged up lately.

On open layups... still doesnt have the strength to finish in a crowd...

G is the strongest guard and can finish the best under contact.

You may be right...but can G get himself into the same "less crowded" situations as TC? Does TC recoginize better when to attack the rim? I don't care how stong GG is if he can't get into those positions as often. Probably a wait and see type situation.

I would also say there were a couple of times today when TC recieved a pass down low and he calmly, but quickly, laid it into the center of the bucket rather than trying to rush and miss. Over the years we have seen a lot of our guards try to put up a layup too fast and miss because they hurried. TC got the ball out quick, in control, and in the hole when he had the chance.

And another thing. Even if TC isn't quite strong enough to finish during contact...he can certainnly knock down FT's.

The thing is I think we can all agree what we thought was going to be a liability looks at minimum to be solid. The pg position is going to at least be serviceable and I think even better.

I can totally agree here...what I am waiting to see is which one can get it done in BIG games...against GREAT defenders. I don't think we have seen this just yet. These situations will ultimately decide who plays point.

Well you can look at it like this if Guyn can't get it done against easy teams last 3 games then why do you think he will do it against better teams? You have to score and get assist which is what Caupain does against easy teams so why cant he do it against better teams. Also Caupain is playing better and is 2 school years younger no excuse for Guyn. Yes Guyn is stronger but that ain't helping him score so who cares.

1. PG so far getting serviceable minutes from Caupain and Guyn. Mick has also put the ball in SK's hands as he did in second half against NCST.

2. SK has been everything a senior should be and more as a wing. He is not settling for jumpers. He is putting ball on the floor and driving and getting to foul line. Thomas and Sanders have shown improvement at the other wing with KJ getting some minutes. When the light comes on for Thomas he will be a huge contributor for this team. His athleticism is off the charts. Sanders seems much more confident this year and is letting game come to him. KJ hasn't got a lot of shots to fall but you can see he has talent and eventually will contribute. If not this year then next.

3. Rubles has really stepped up. He plays lock down D,boards, distributes and gets to the hoop. His shot selection is 1000 times better.

4.JJ is playing in control most of the time and seems to have a better understanding of what he can do and what he can't do.

5. Lawrence is a work in progress. He needs more strength but he has shown improvement in every game.

6. My big concern is we really haven't faced a true big man yet. While I like how JJ and Rubles have played, having to guard a guy who is 3 or 4 inches taller and out weighs them will be a huge challenge.

The ceiling is high for this team as I believe the youngsters will continue to grow as the season moves forward. A 4th straight NCAA appearance is certainly doable.

As he develops over the next couple of years he's going to drive other teams nuts and put up a lot points by his ability to draw fouls and hit ft' s.
Other thoughts, I was at the game and was impressed with Lawrence's passing. He's going to be great as he gets physically stronger. Along with Shaq, they will create mismatch problems for opposing defenses. Jackson, while improved, still needs to find way to keep out of foul trouble. Hopefully Strickland can play this season for some needed post depth.
