Apparently Stoops has turned down the Irish...

And I'm hearing some rumblings about Kelly being the next man in, so to speak, despite the rumors of him not being a candidate because of political affiliations.

As many times as Stoops has issued statements....the rumors regarding him just will not die. This may not happen for ND, but it sure as heck isn't over.

Word has it that if Stoops isn't in the Irish fold by today or no later than Sat, it's not going to happen. I'm getting the vibe that it may not happen, but concrete info is just not out there.
I do have a sense that BK could be the next coach at ND, and I expect an announcement on Sun or Mon if Stoops is not done by end of today.
Hang on to your butts.

It's one source out of thirty. I put some creedence into it, but that could change in an hour. I'm just reporting what the word is out there in neverland. I did hear that BK as a second option is almost a certainty. So we better start praying that ND signs Stoops. I do not want to lose BK!!

It is now being said that the Notre Dame players were told they would be meeting with the new HC next week. So either Bob Stoops has signed a contract with ND or the admin s at ND are sure they can get a deal done with BK pretty quick.

New developments? It's been rumored that BK and ND have slowed down a bit, and that Bob Stoops could be back in the mix. ND may be making concessions to Stoops over players/recruits. May be why the Kelly talk is backing off a bit.


I'm sure we'll find out something tonite on the BK front at the banquet, but this would be great news (if true).

All this is interesting, given that in B.Koch's story in this AM's Enquirer, he writes that Kelly "is asking for certain conditions from Notre Dame that will allow him to compete at the highest level.'' If the Domers refused Stoops, a more accomplished coach with a national championship on his resume, will they bend for BK? Better question: Will BK bend for them
