BCT vs BCL in Recruiting

I know Jeff is going to cringe with this post but it is worth mentioning.

I just want to give a big shout out to Jeff for everything he does in the recruiting portion of this site.

For example. I read in the Hakim Saintil recruit profile that he plays with a player named Tyler Roberson. I decide to google him to find out more info. I see there is a Bearcattalk.com profile. I click on it and get 6 or 7 posts on information on him as a recruit, what schools are recruiting him, and what coaches were visiting him and the days he was been visited.

I go to BCL to look for info. I get a profile (Size, position, school) and a page of 6 or 7 posts that say this information is for "insiders only" which requires you sign up and PAY for the information.

I decided to look into it some more and that happens so often.

Many times they post a day or two after Jeff (I can only imagine why).

It is worth mentioning that Jeff does have some help (namely the_one_32). BCT is really giving a great FREE product to its visitors.

I know BCL guys like Chad Brendel like to come here and bash us but we are giving about 90 % or more of the same information and we don't charge a thing.

We use to have BearcatAlum1 run our recruiting site until BCL came over and gave him a free membership and some krespy creme doughnuts to run their free recruiting page which of coarse is littered with *Sign up for FREE 30 day membership to receive this posts*. Great free board...

Yes this is a shot at BCL. I like BCA1 and can poke fun at him because he knows we can have some fun.

I would also like to thank all the people that come here and posts. I love the way our site is and the direction it is going. We have a ton of personalities on here but some really good basketball talk too. For people who lurk I would encourage you to sign up and throw a posts occasionally.

Is there anything we can do as Mod's to improve the site? Anything you would like to see? What can we do better?

What an amateur post. I'm not a big BCL fan but their insider information blows BCT's out of the water. It's really not even close. BCL actually does interviews with recruits, commits, coaches, as well as attends most of the regional recruiting events. As for how you keep harping on the FREE vs. PAY issue, BCL has been free for a while now. What BearcatAlum does is just post articles he finds on recruits and so forth, the same thing that is done here. No offense to Jeff or the_one_32 but there is little insider information on here but their research is greatly appreciated.

BCL is good for some things and when the free memberships expire and you don't feel like paying for it, so be it. BCT, NCAABBS, etc are all good for some things as well. But you constantly trying to call out BCL is sad and makes you look like you have little brother syndrome.

If BCT go under I lose nothing. If it goes crazy and gets 10000 members I get nothing. I enjoy the site. I am making observations as a bearcat fan.

Oh and I know what BCL posts most of the time. It is laughable to call that inside info. I am mainly referring to basketball and not football btw.

Why are you so caught up on what they are charging? It's simple economics. If the demand is justifying the price than it isn't insane. I don't claim to know or like the BCL folks but their really isn't any disputing the fact that Chad actually talks to the recruits, coaches, and players whereas nobody on this site does. Whether they exaggerate, lead people on is a different story but they have first hand insider info on a lot of recruits.

If you know what BCL posts most of the time than you are a subscriber over there considering most of their content is listed as VIP. If you aren't a VIP member than you really have no ground to stand on because you wouldn't know what inside information gets posted. So come clean, which is it? Sounds like you got banned from there and you are holding a personal grudge. It's time to move on.

I subscribed a while ago. Left when I realized I was getting just as good or better info here.

My attempt to pump up Jeff and Jason (football) might have been unfairly bashing BCL. The point was to take the most notable UC recruiting website (BCL - a pay website) to BCT a free website.

The point is to say how incrediable BCT is at providing recruiting news that is free for everyone. There is no blocking of info.

I think it is fair to compare ourselves to the other recruiting site.

I also think it is fair when BCL specifically came here to take our original recruiting guy (BCA1) and When their recruiting analyst Chad comes here to try to make ours guys look bad. But you want to say I am "amatuer" for comparing the websites on our own site??

I dont go there and posts all the times Todd was wrong. I could. I could easily go to their site and call them out for unfairly taking peoples money claiming to have inside sources on conference realignment which all were proven wrong or lies.

I would say he is taking a higher road than this Todd dude. Him getting a user name and pointing out when people are wrong is about the most childish thing I've seen when it comes to message boards. The guy is obviously threatened, or else he would have no need to do that.

IMO, he just doesn't want to have to do the work necessary in order to make people pay for the service, he would rather try to diminish BCT recruiting information, just so he could offer less or equal quality stuff and charge for it.

Im tempted to... Im just tired of all this damn talk about BCL. There information is much worse than Jeffs but yet they make u pay for it YET they are considered better than BCT? Its confusing to me.
