BCT vs BCL in Recruiting

BCL is a waste of money.

Interviews with recruits aren't worth the money. It's the same answers from every recruit, saying all the right things you'd expect. Yet BCL acts like they're so special because of it.

And BCL is constantly acting like every recruit wants to come to UC and like they broke the news first, blah, blah, blah. And on other boards, they do the "we know something you don't know" crap. Those guys have big ego's about information that will be public in a matter of hours if a guy verbals or signs. Why pay for a 2 hour jump on the info? Don't we all have jobs?

BCT gives me all the information I need on recruiting.

They aren't worth the money in your opinion. They are for some. For those that it is worth the money and want to pay for it, great for them. For people like you and me who don't really want to pay for it, great for us. Not sure why people care what others do with their money. I don't like the teasing and the coming over hear to act elitist (look it up, I've had spars with Chad on here), but if someone wants to pay for their service, so be it.
 
BCL is worth the money based on football coverage alone. Tim Adams does a fabulous job covering the team (interviewing individual players and coaches) and recruiting. Obviously there are way more football players and recruits, but I've been disappointed with their basketball recruiting coverage. I understand sometimes there is just no news to report, but their coverage has dropped dramatically since they left Rivals. They used to have 2-3 guys covering basketball, now it's just one. I know Mick likes to keep things close to the vest but BCL, to me, just isn't what it used to be. In the days of twitter, their value has dropped tremendously as well.

Tim Adams is OUTSTANDING. If you enjoy UC football, and UC football recruiting........Tim Adams is well worth the annual subscription price ($100?). He is a quality person from all accounts as well.


BCL offers solid insight for UC bball recruiting. Chad does attend live events, and thus can provide insight as to the play of individual recruits. Chad is also close with some of the staff, so he is privy to less than public information.

I create public profiles at BCL, same as I did here, and similar to Jeff now. I do less research, reading of other forums, etc., because Brendel has direct contact with recruits, aau coaches, college coaches, etc. I also post less frequently on BCL bc my career consumes all of my time, and I don't make profiles if we simply "watch a player." I wait until it is confirmed that we are actively tracking/recruiting the player before making a profile for said recruit.

I do appreciate the kind words from some of you. TGO also lured me from BCN to BCT in the infancy stage of BCT. BCT does have a very nice layout for recruits (i.e. different pages that are separate between classes). Jeff does a nice job, especially considering he does this for enjoyment and as a hobby. Props to DJ Jazzy Jeff for that.

There are negatives at BCL, but it offers a nice service for a relatively cheap price. I find it worth it, and I follow recruiting very closely. BCL has info before it breaks on other forums, unless it is free info cherry-picked off Twitter, a BCL spy, or a Rivals/Scout premium article......and that is my fault it isn't on BCL quicker because I'm at my work desk from 8-6 everyday (trying to feed my childrens!!!!!).
