Lance retweeted a guy named Brendan Prunty saying that uc and uconn wouldn't be turned away if they wanted to be invited with whatever the catholic schools were doing. Can somebody look in to what he is talking about?

I actually don't think this is a bad short-term idea and back-up plan for UC. Align with these guys in a conference and find another conference to go football only. Most likely the leftover Big East would allow us to stay in for football only as they need as much talent as posible. If not go Mountain West or something for football. This conference would be relatively tight geographically and would help control travel expenses in other sports. Especially if X and Dayton and Butler get invited in. I know this is not ideal as we want to get in the ACC or Big 12, but when and if we get invited we can always bolt. This new league will be probably the 4th best basketball conference behind the ACC and Big 10 and Big 12 and any given year could be better than some of those conferences, especially if UC anc UConn were to join. The only downside would be being in a conference with Xavier. I really don't want that.

I'd love being in a league with X. But I wouldn't like being in 2 different leagues in our major sports.

X doesn't deserve to share the same court with us let alone league.

Personally, unless we get into the ACC or Big 12, I do believe the best option is for Football to split, the rest of the school join the Catholics.

Hopefully the football team could join a football only conference with the best of the rest.

However, I think that is a fall back. I think we need in the ACC or Big 12 ASAP. The issue with doing what I outlined above is the basketball school would want some kind of commitment. And I don't want that keeping us from getting in to the ACC or Big 12.

Who here is a good gambler? Because unless the ACC or Big 12 comes calling pretty soon, Whit and Santa will be gambling huge with whatever they do.

The sec, b1g and b12 are about to raid the acc after the bowl games are done. Uc just needs to sit back and wait for that to happen and move in after

I hope you're right. The ACC exit fee issue needs to be resolved. That might kickstart the next round of movement.

I think I am agreeing with you to a degree. I truly believe that sitting back right now is not exactly a bad thing. Where I disagree is that I think the B12 is not immune to this. Ultimately, UC will be in a East West configuration between the left over ACC (old Big East football) and the leftover Big 12 when a couple of their big members leave for more fertile grounds.

Nippert expansion plan released tomorrow. Santa has said that the ACC has told him exactly what needs to be done to warrant a bid. Just keep doing those things and pleasing the powers that be, whether that's the ACC or Big 12. This is far from over. Remember, this "Catholic League" isn't forming until at least 2015 so there's absolutely nothing to commit to now or in the near future. That is worst case scenario and something we don't need to really be worried about right now.

"A source told The Post both sides want to get a deal done that would allow a split in time for the start of the 2013 football season and the 2013-14 basketball season. The source said a likely agreement would result in the Catholic schools retaining the name, possibly with some financial remuneration to the football schools."

Fair enough. That's IF they can get it done. I would only join them if 1) we are sure we aren't getting into a better conference or 2) We have an easy out if a better conference comes calling (unlikely)

I'm with you. I think its a longshot too. I just hope UC is prepared just in case the bball schools leave faster than they anticipated

Off topic but I am watching the ND game on ESPN U right now and there might be 5000 people there. Just nice to see a ranked team play a cupcake school with low attendance too. We aren't the only ones :)
