BE Bball schools hold meeting

The Tulane thing is nothing more than an excuse. A majority of the basketball schools voted in favor of adding Tulane.

You are absolutely incorrect. The addition of Tulane put schools like Marquette in a spot where they had had enough.

I think we've all had enough......:)
Just like the lockout in the NFL, full of dumb reports and completely hyped up by the media.

Then why did Marquette vote to let Tulane in the Conference? For Tulane to get in they had to get 9 of the 11 votes. That means 5 of the 7 basketball schools had to vote yes.

The BEast is dead....

Not yet. The Big East will be a 9 or 10 member all sports conference with UC and UConn as members, until the ACC decides to admit new members, hopefully two of those will be UC and UConn. The Big East will be an AQ conference in the BCS next football season.

I am worried about our bball attendance with all these teams leaving. The only reason why we get a decent attendance is because of the big east teams. We truly are going to average 6k with these c-usa teams coming up. We are screwed if we can't get out.

I am worried about Mick (or even Tommy T) saying "What the hell am I doing here?" If they move to a school in the BIG, SEC, ACC, PAC 12 or BIG 12...they don't have to deal with any of this crap.

Honestly, so many fans were bashing Mick 5 years ago. We are lucky to have him and should be thankful every day he stays. I know he is a hometown guy and people take that for granted, but do you know how many coaches would cut and run because of this stuff?

I think people need to relax.
They can't dissolve the conference, the fb teams are still stuck for 27 months and even if Rutgers manages to sue and win, it'll likely be some time after the summer before the other schools manage to file their suits.
In the mean time, we need to wait on the Maryland decision. If they get out of paying 50 mill, the ACC isn't going to wait for FSU/Clemson or whoever else to leave, nor will they let UCONN or us turn to crap. It is about markets but it doesn't hurt to have a decent product either.

Xavier and Butler leaving the A-10 to join the BEast schools leaving.

Speculation at best. From what I have read from the people at ESPN etc. that actually do research, the 7 basketball schools cannot dissolve The Big East. Dissolving the Conference requires at least 2 FOOTBALL schools to vote in favor of it.

The 7 can leave as as group without paying the $10 million exit fee but they have to give 27 months notice. To leave before 27 months the 7 are going to have to negotiate a settlement with the football schools.

The A-10 also has a year or two waiting period to leave. Temple and Charlotte are playing basketball in the A-10 this year even though both announced they are out the door last year.

You're an idiot.

Sticks and stones may break my bones.........

The Big East is not dead and will live on. None of the 7 schools that are leaving play football. 11 football schools remain Big East members, UC, UConn, Boise, San Diego State, USF, UCF, Houston, SMU, Memphis, Tulane, East Carolina. A 12th school will be added if not more. East Carolina will more than likely become an all sports member.

Stay calm. Believe. All will be fine

The Big East was not founded on football...

It may not have been founded on football but times changed and football now rules the college sports world. You either change or get left behind, the 7basketball schools got left behind.

The Big East is dead. Actually, the Big East died when they didn't get the same access to the "playoff" as the other 5 BCS conferences.

I agree, BUT the big thing in our favor is that does not take place until 2014. We have 2 more seasons that we can win the Big East and get into the BCS. I don't want to wait that long for an invite to either the ACC or Big 12, and i don't think we will have to. We have time for this to happen and it will, but we have a great chance at winning this conference next year and going to another BCS bowl. Have to deal with the cards that are dealt I guess.
