Bellarmine (Exhibition)

I know we are shooting well so offensive rebounds aren't happening, but we look out of position on the defensive boards. 15 offensive boards for Bellermine is way too high.

What I love about this team is that the worst lineup UC puts on the floor is still pretty damn good.

I mean a lineup of Jenifer, kj, Evans, Scott and Moore isn't bad at all. Really getting excited about who this team has shown to be

Game is Saturday at 12 PM EST

Last year they were our first exhibition game. We won 86-79 (no need to worry about the defense). Louisville beat them 71-55 this past Sunday. I think we'll have a tougher time in this one, but it's time to lock it down a little and get geared up for the real season.

Bellarmine 58
UC 79

So close! I'm gonna get one this year.

I'm a little bit giddy about this offense and pace of play. KJ shooting open shots will be deadly this year. I'm not sure he hit the rim on any of his makes. Caupain is the best clutch shooter but KJ has the sweetest stroke of everyone.

Caupain was great, Evans looked awesome, Shaq is a changed player, Clark was more involved, and yes Q played well.

So excited! !

Just hearing Cronin say get going when walking it up is a beautiful thing. More than anything that is the difference. We might take a similar amount of bad shots but they are not unmakeable last second shots.

It's so much fun to watch! !

My takeaways:

KJ - Right now he looks like the guy we hoped he could be. You can see his confidence growing. If KJ shoots like this we will have a great year.

Cobb - Consistently very solid. His D looks much improved...played the passing lanes well.

Caupain - He looked great and very decisive. Troy is extremely strong when going to the hoop. His size just makes it tough for small guards to stop when he gets going downhill.

Jenifer - D was really bad today...looked like a freshman. His form will yield low shooting percentages. He has to get his elbow in when he shoots.

Evans - He has a smooth shot. This kid can score but he needs to improve on D and rebounding. He will get solid playing time this year.

Shaq - Really happy to see him passing when he breaks the D down. He is setting up our offense a lot better this year instead of standing around watching the ball move.

Scott - His blocking out leaves a lot to be desired. If he wants minutes he has to improve rebounding. He was out of position on both sides of the ball.

Quadri - Looked engaged and made a lot of hustle plays with a few solid shots. He still plays with his hands on D instead of moving his feet and getting in position.

Clark - looked like he did last year.

DeBerry - Like everyone in the post...he has to improve his blocking out.

Ellis - Didn't really play.

Nice breakdown. I'm so excited about this group. They all bring something to the table.

my takeaways

TC- attacks and looks explosive from wings. effortlessly plays great defense. still needs work on entry passes.

FC- march madness guard. fearless. need find him more minutes.

Eliis- PLAYING SOFT(like he too good for these games). need go strong on both ends every possession.

Clark- keep shooting EVERYTHING open. like him facing up over backing down(thinks less). Did I see him pushing ball up every time he got rebound(chad)????

KJ- just shoot every time open. don't ball stop swing the ball if not open. stop being scared to rebound.

JE- going to be star. first step unguardable. best pro prospect on team at SG

QM- WOW!!! best post defense in game. MVP of game. just get stronger at you playing major minutes. looks more comfortable than ever

CD- might see less minutes on team other than scott. just not he type style offense.

SHAQ- best defensive player on team. defense defense defense. any points icing on cake.

Scott- needs get stronger and stay aggressive within flow of offense. red shirt???

Scott has looked out of position defensively on back to back possessions. I said that I rather have him in before Moore before today, that's slowly changing. Moore has made some good defensive plays.

scott probably needs red shirt

my new starting 5

ellis
shaq
evans
caupain
jenifer

2nd unit

clark
moore
shaq/evans
kj
cobb

starting five his no where near best five on team. its best lineup for style offense we play. shaq isnt too little to play 4 in spurts, him and clark same size. having cobb and clark coming off bench gives them more freedom to run show when in game. deberry i just dont see fit in offense(maybe 6-8min game). I hope mick stick to script and spread minutes. final five minutes of games should go to best five at moment. we really dont have weakness when we sub. at some spots we get stronger.

Its the new wave. Helps that Steph Curry is the face of UA with the season he's having so far...
bro i get around alot. ive NEVER seen somebody wearing a pair of UA. its going be hard getting guys to go from durants, kobes, lebrons, drose to UA. nobody rocking steph currys

Biggest take away for me was quadri moore's attitude he finally looked confident and having fun out there today. He's got a great looking shot and it was great to see him get some shots to go down. We switch off of everything defensively and a couple times today he did not do a good job closing out on some guards. But other than that I thought he had a great game. He is a little trigger happy at times he needs to realize what is his best shot.

I still haven't seen enough of tre Scott to know what type of player he is, it looks like he is still adjusting at both ends of the floor so to me it's still unclear who are back up pf will be. We can't have a hole defensively so both need to do better on that side of the floor.

Not going to happen overnight but UA still has a lot of room to grow. Nike is getting nervous...

btw did you see Lebron going to D-rose's HS and converting them to Lebron's? That's gotta hurt.
