Sorry dbieon, at this point in their careers Ellis on another level than Clark

From this year (per ESPN):

---Player 1 ^ Player 2
FG%: 55.6 ^ 63.4
FT%: 58.8 ^ 66.7
RB/G: 7.4 ^ 7.7
AST/G: 0.9 ^ 2.0
BLK/G: 1.3 ^ 1.4
STL/G: 1.1 ^ 1.3
PF/G: 2.1 ^ 2.4
TO/G: 1.9 ^ 1.3
PPG: 10.0 ^ 9.4

I'll take player 2 (Clark) over player 1 (Ellis) today and in the future. Clark is empirically better than Ellis so far this year (certainly not on a level under Ellis) and is two seasons greener. Also, unfortunately, there's no stat for dumb fouls or poor decisions.

Great crowd. Great energy. Sad we couldn't pull it out. The refs were bad, yeah we know, but we can't turn it over so much. Ellis again being too weak with the ball. Brought it down low and allow a guard to swipe it away twice tonight. Troy with some bad passes. Nothing that can't be cleaned up. On to Morgan State.

It's so frustrating to see what this team would be if they just wouldn't turn the ball over. It happened all last year, it was clear in the first exhibition it wasn't fixed and here we are losing games we should win because we can't hang on to the ball.

Ellis and Clark have 15 turnovers the last 3 games. What a huge disappointment.

Just getting back from the game. Wow, was that ever a kick in the nuts or what. That's probably the most disgusted I've ever been with the officiating. They completely changed the game and how it was played. The fact that they called every touch foul (and phantom fouls) on UC but continually allowed Butler to get away with charges was horrendous. Butler had no chance if the refs just let the game play out.

Probably the worst part is UC should and would win that game 9 out of 10 times. Even with the refs, they blew it. Give credit to Butler, they knew the refs were going to call it and they just attacked the rim. UC just took bad mid-range shots.

The problem with the turnovers was they came against a team that played defense with little pressure. Most of the turnovers were terribly unforced.

The defense was also porous. No idea what they were doing after Butler called the timeout and gave up a 3. That's on Mick.

Cobb needs to get out of his funk, and Shaq needs to ride the pine.

5 PF in the first half called on UC. 13 in the second half.
6 PF in the first half called on Butler. 13 in the second half.

Keep in mind, there are the same number of minutes in the first half as there are in the second half.

Refs started getting calling ticky-tack fouls in the second half and it favored Butler.
- Slows the game down: Butler has a shorter bench and prefer half-court offense (especially with Chrabascz in foul trouble)
- Makes it a FT game: Butler is more consistent from the FT line
- Reduces physicality of the game (esp. defensively): UC isn't able to play as physical style defense as they normally do.

Cobb needs to get out of his funk, and Shaq needs to ride the pine.

Cobb is taking such bad shots. I don't care if he shoots himself out of a slump as long as they are good shots in the flow of whats going on. He just decides to fire random crap and that kills us.

Evans got 29 minutes tonight, the writing is on the wall for Shaq. If Clark wasn't in foul trouble Shaq might have had under 15.

O and the refs butchered this game.... micks T was one of the worst I've seen.

As bad as a call that was, Mick cannot get a T there. Give them their two points and be done with it. Granted, I don't know what Mick did to get his T, but he generally earns them.

You knew the T was coming at some point, I'm not sure if they showed it on TV, but he was very upset long before the call before his T. When Clark got an and one before the T happened Mick turned to the crowd and raised his hands as if to say "can you believe it!"

No doubt he was gonna get one, coaches can only take so much before it's too much.

4. Ellis lacks 'senior poise in senior moments' Ellis picked up an idiotic technical foul over nothing (giving him his second personal), then later in the second half, after Clark picked up his forth foul, he decides to (aggressively) defend Butler's SG 25 feet from the basket and picks up his 4th foul. We played soft inside defensively for the remainder of the game.

I can't agree with your, "senior poise in senior moments" comment.

After all, he did make an AndOne and a clutch free throw with 4 seconds remaining in the game. I'd say that's the definition of senior poise in a senior moment.

I'm not complaining about Evans, he obviously played a good game. But, Butler clearly was leaving him open. Evans struggled big time to make a move toward the basket off the dribble. It hurt the offense flow, which there basically wasn't any the final 5 min for UC. It's something he will need to work on.

That may very well be true. For those minutes Shaq was in, he was terrible. So freaking soft.

Clark needs to step it up too. He was so soft tonight. Gave up a easy rebound on the FT and then lets Jones just bully him for the game winning basket.

Frankly, I hate losing but just maybe it will help this team in the long run. They were bound to lose playing the way they had been playing.

At that point, those refs completely fu*ked us. That was 2 phantom calls on UC in a row. I don't blame coach one bit. Worst stretch of officiating I've seen all year.

I don't think we watched the same game. If Butler left him open on purpose, they are foolish.

I hate when a player can pull that off and it still isn't enough to seal the deal. Needed a time out after that.

I was suggesting a TO as well. Why waste it. IMO no timout helps the offense. Granted the last play was a lot of luck, but if they had to dribble up the court it would have been difficult (though the refs probably would have just called a foul).

They definitely were playing off on him. He could have shot it majority of the times he caught a pass if he wanted to. Just my imo, I was in the 200 levels so maybe I'm wrong.
