Let's be real. We need Lawrence. As a team I feel like we settle way too much. When we get to basket good things happen. When we dick around the perimeter things get stale.

Mick seconds what I was saying during the game, SK took some bad shots that broke the rhythm in the second half...his confidence in his shot works against him sometimes.

Horrible defensive, offensive and rebounding effort today but the first win at South Florida in years so you take it and go. Mentally the Cats just haven't been there the past couple games. Giving up offensive rebounds seems to be a trend here lately. Nearly cost them in Houston and it nearly cost them today. Rubles with 5 assist but I truly didn't think either he nor Jackson played very well. But again to get a win in Tampa is something I'll take.
How is holding a team to 54 points, under 40% shooting overall, under 23% from 3 pt horrible defense??? What on earth would be good enough for you? I'll take those stats every game. I'll agree the offense sucks, but it has for years at UC -

Read what I said, horrible offensive and defensive rebounding. A good team would have beaten UC handily tonight. They struggled to beat a S. Florida team without it's best player.

After reading how I wrote it I understand why you took it that way. Meant horrible offensive and defensive rebounding effort.

When Rubles gets the ball at foul line it amazes me with how well he has shot FT this year he can't make that shot. It would add so much to his game when JJ is out of the game we are a different team

Yep, we only grabbed 15.6% of our misses tonight. We came into this game 5th in the country at 41.4%. Defensive rebounding, however, was actually better than our season average. We grabbed 71.4% of the misses, compared to our poor season average of 67.2% (248th overall).

Big props to GG. He got trashed after last game but came up big tonight. Hit some huge shots when the game was very much in doubt.

Also don't forget to call wlw after 6:00 and talk bearcat hoops.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day, time for Mick to give Caupain the majority of the minutes. If you are happy with this team the way it is, you let Guyn have a 50-50 split with Caupain. If you want to be a good team come March, Caupain needs the keys to the car. Caupain has made plenty of mistakes, but he has far more upside than Guyn for a team that desperately needs offense. As Mick said at the beginning of the year, this isn't an everyone plays, juice box and snack team, this is a team that will play its best players the most and you will have to fight to earn playing time. It hasn't really worked out that way, as we don't have Strickland, JD3, etc., but Mick should stand firm and let Caupain run the show. It isn't even so much about Guyn as it is Caupain, who will be the leader of the offense for the next few years to come.

He is a freshman and has been inconsistent from game to game. Mick is playing it fine right now. Bringing him off the bench allows Caupain to get a feel for the game before entering and limits his minutes, which keeps him from wearing down.

Yes, but Caupain can rebound also, and we need that more than defense, IMO. Caupain, even when he doesn't score, always seems to stay involved. If Guyn goes cold, he doesn't do anything for us really. Caupain had 6 rebounds today, the most on the team and he is the freaking point guard! Best of all, he played only 18 minutes and he still had 6! If we continue to struggle to rebound, we will be forced to give Caupain more minutes. I wish it was a 25-15 split in favor of Caupain, that would give is the most optimal results.

Yeah, not having Lawrence messes up our rotation and hinders his development. Plus, teams have been playing zone against us a lot lately -- I would like to try him on the foul line and see if he can get hot knocking down the 15-footer. For that matter, I would like to see Shaq try the middle of the zone too.
