I was fine in the 1st half then my iPad just randomly would start the broadcast over after every few minutes and it'd take a minute to get back to the game. My phone was fine but it would skip back like 10 seconds every few minutes. I never have issues with that stuff so idk what was going on.

Yeah every 10 minutes mine would go back to the warm-up and then I would just hit the refresh button and it would go back to the live game

I think part of what we are seeing is Teams are going to try to frustrate us by slowing the game down and making us play at their pace. We are long on defense, have good athletes and lots of options. Exactly what we used to do when we were out manned. We will grow as the season progresses. New style and new PG's. I hope we are playing our best at NCAA time.

I was actually glad we got to see that kind of game planning. Need to be prepared for it. Lets learn form this and on to the next game.

Solid points. It should be a nice wake up call for these guys and it's a good thing that wake up call ended with a W. We have to get control of our turnovers and I would expect that to happen the next two games. We now know toughness can win a game thanks to "The Problem".

You listen to the post game presser and Gary is very well aware of ALL of these things and you can tell the seniors believe it almost as much as the coaches do. Toughness, intensity and taking care of the ball is extremely important. It's a very good thing to have lots of options. Last night it sounds like the option we needed was toughness to win the game and that has been our calling card and we have one of the toughest players in the game. Knocking down some FT's couldn't have come at a better time. The next game we may need something else and we should have those options to throw at the opponent.

It sounds like Cane hasn't quite got it all figured out just yet so hopefully he can start to make some adjustments in the next couple of weeks. The transition to what he WAS doing at SH to what he is doing now is very different. Let's give him some time...I think he will come around in the end. It sounds like Williams is also trying to figure out the speed of the game.

Let's hope we look a little better the next two games.

I think it depends a lot on the game situation and like Mick said this wasn't a jump shooters game. Thankfully we adjusted and fed Gary.

Yeah our ball movement was bad early, but Jenifer and Cumberland both picked up fouls by driving. Good to see that bc we cannot revert to a stale offense with no movement. So at least we scored 73 instead of it being a rock fight in the 50s. Last night was the type of game we easily could've lost in previous years.

10 3s is on the extreme low end though. I'd hope we shoot 15+ today.

Williams is driving me nuts. He is rushing long 2s like crazy. Just needs to relax. He is pressing so bad. As soon as he catches it he's hurrying into a shot. I think it takes guys time to realize you can deal with a guy closing out on you if you aren't hurried and stick to your form. Williams just wants to get rid of the shot like the ball is one fire.

Broome made such a bad pass for a TO early last night and never in any way got going. Not good.

I really hope the grind it out with toughness thing doesn't end up as our calling card every time we play a Top 150 team.

If we can score from the paint I think we should do that first and let the rest come to us. There are certain players I would let shoot wide open 3's no matter what the shot clock says. Evans and Cumberland mainly. I have always preferred shooting more 3's at home and trying to get it in the paint on the road. If someone gets hot from 3 let them shoot of course. If early shots don't fall...try to feed the paint more. We should be able to play either way with this team. Let the game dictate.

Williams was doing great when he could drive to the bucket. If he can't get there he should probably just focus on getting the rest of the team involved until he is faced with a shot that can't be passed up. He (as a frosh) does not need to be pressing the issue.

I hope Cane gets it going. I am sure he is just used to dribbling around until he can get a shot off at SH. This is a big adjustment to that type of style. As long as he doesn't turn it over maybe we just need to let him work his magic a little more IDK.

Moore needs to play over Williams today imo.

Moore has a much easier role to figure out. Take open 3's and play D. Williams has a much different game and has to get used to the speed and when to be aggressive. You might be right...until Williams gets that figured out...Moore could be a better option.

Couple random thoughts

Broome turned old-school KJ on a couple possessions and just stood there with the ball for several seconds.

Broome, Evans, and Cumberland probably thrive the most in the faster free-flowing games. They need to figure out how to make a bigger impact in games like last night. Cumberland was at least aggressive. I don't like how games like last night always seem to find us though. We can't let bad teams dictate the flow. That's on our PGs. I think the thing I underrated about Caupain is, say what you want about his style, but he always found a way to get the game into that style. Broome cannot allow himself to be taken out of the action.

I don't care what anyone says, but Evans and Cumberland combining for 4 3 pt attempts is not good for us.

Last time we had a physical game like this (UConn AAC Tourney), we were really flat the next day vs SMU. We need to use our depth against Richmond, crank things up, and run them out of gas.

Any time Moore gets a clean look at 3, I feel like it's going in.

I haven't seen Brooks as the most improved player so far. I barely noticed that he got 16 minutes last night. He and Washington combined for 6 boards in 40 minutes last night. Considering it was a physical game, I expect them to be more competitive for rebounds. Clark always manages to find a way.

as pointed out though that wasn't a slow game. we were just awful on offense and the game had so many stoppages it felt slow. more possessions than the coppin state game and 1 less than the western carolina game.

It wasn't a fast game bc it had no flow. That's all I mean by that. It played like a half court slugfest.

everything about last nights game kinda showed up in the black and red game. brooks struggled vs more athletic bigs, pg play left a lot to be desired, moore has the more college ready game compared to williams.

i really hoped i was just being a pessimist but it sucked watching it happen last night.

yeah and imagine what its going to look like when we play teams like smu. its gonna be a slugfest with nowhere near the amount of possessions as last night.

I get wanting to shoot a lot of free throws. That's very good. Very, very good. I don't get why it has to be compared to 3 point attempts though. I mean, I get it in just the simple terms of not wanting to just pass the ball around forever and Jack up a bad 3. But that's not the only kind of 3. We're a good passing team and high assist team. We're shooting a good % from 3 this year for a reason. And it's bc they're coming from passes and are rhythm shots. That's a very important part of the game.

Free throws good does not mean 3s bad. We have 3 guys who should be taking bare minimum of 3 3s each per game imo. And Evans and Cumberland should probably be at 5 each.
