Not true. Fact, Big East commissioner Mike Trangheese has been interviewed several teams on this. BH meant nothing to the Big East, the Big East was already a great basketball conference. The Big East needed football teams and the Big East expansion committee had serious doubts about UC's commitment to BCS Conference football. This is when Nancy Zimpher stepped in and according to Tranghesse "wowed" the expansion committee with her vision for UC. It was Nancy Zimpher who got UC into the Big East.
I can't let my man LL stand alone here. The stories, rumors, innuendos were nothing more than political grandstanding. When everything was washed and dried, the Big East saw a strong basketball program that would enhance the existing league. Football may have been a small consideration in regards to UC, but the meat on the plate was Huggins and Bearcat basketball. I have read the above myth and rehashments over and again. Very little truth to it. Basketball/wife. Football/girlfriend.
