not nervous bout score at all

Man they made so many 3's at one point I looked up at scoreboard they were 7/10 from behind line. we actually played pretty good d today if you ask me, what was there 3 shot clock violations. Lets keep it rollin and put to halfs together go cats.

If that's pretty good I'd hate to see them play bad.

They need to find consistency for sure. Can't be that hot and cold. Think once the backcourt gets more experienced facing different situations and confidence they will be fine.

The positives that i can see is
1- our guards cant shoot no worse from 3
2- our guards cant shoot no worse from the foul line.
3- i have not seen a UC team play this hard in a while
4- There team enthusiasm and togetherness is unbelievably high.
5- Any single player can be the leading scorer any given night.
6 Yancey is finally a leader.
7 Cash is fast with the ball
8 JJ will provide spark with hustle, as a freshman will contribute
9 Larry got less minutes, which i hope will keep happening
10 SK can flat score and the players know that..

I hope UC's shooting gets better from the foul line and from long distance. If there shooting does get atleast consistently better, UC will be a team to reckon with because of defensive intensity and the ability to rebound the basketball..The shooting can not get any worse so in return if it does get better they will look pretty damn good out there. To beat any team when you shoot like that is a miracle, it shows how hard the they are defending. There are some positives that can make us UC fans relax just a hair bit more...

I agree. As a whole our defense was solid. IPFW is a good TEAM. They played smart and waited for a mismatch or an open shooter. They controlled the tempo by using all of the shot clock to get what they wanted. Its hard to play solid D for 35 seconds and someone not miss a step when they are setting screens and forcing you to switch defenders. They actually didn't shoot as well as it seemed as a whole, but they started the game 7-9 from three and they hit their free throws. And they shot well enough that it forced us to make use of our possessions. The thing people fail to realize is that two teams get the same number of possessions and thus shots in a game. The way to change that is to create turnovers, which we haven't done consisitently, and to get offensive rebounds, which is our strength. I don't care who the opponent is and how "bad" they should be. If we are expecting to match jump shot for jump shot with any team we will lose, especially with our inability to shoot free throws. We have to create turnovers and play smart basketball because we don't have shooters to keep us in games. That and keep out-rebounding everyone. Once we get Big East refs as well, maybe our guards won't be hand-cuffed and can create some turnovers that way. These early games with these nobody refs they call every hand-check and our guards can get in quick trouble.

I was going to add as well, IPFW reminded me alot of playing Miami. You're more talented at every position, but midway through the second half you look up and you got a five point lead. That head gear kid did nothing but box out and defend his positon. Nothing sexy, but very effective. I wish we played smart like that. Hopefully these younger guys and our next class coming in will play smart and make less mistakes.
