Jacksons a warrior if he can go he will be out there. He will play through pain. We went here last year and didn't play well we remember that. This a huge game for us and nationally, #13 at #12, time for uc to show how good they are

He is a warrior but it won't be his call. I wouldn't be surprised to see him sit the next two games out...I just hope it's not any longer. We need his leaping ability to make a run...if he tweaks it again we will be sorry.

Mick just said Lawrence will be back this season when Chuck asked if they could possibly redshirt him. He is hoping it will be in the next week or so. Let's hope...

That's great news! I was hoping he could be back before UCONN then SMU. I hope JJ can be back for those as well. I wouldn't mind it if neither played the next two games. If JJ is not 100% we can probably chalk one up for a loss against UL...but I think we can win USF without them if we have to.

Main thing is I don't want to risk either coming back too soon because there is much more to play for down the road.

"Knowing what I know about Cincinnati's Justin Jackson, I'll say this. As long as he can walk, he'll play Thursday at Louisville."-John rothstein twitter
ALso Mick Cronin is with Andy catz on espu at 1 o'clock for those who can watch. Interested to hear what he says about Jackson

Mick was saying last night that Justin Jackson wanted to play so bad that he was begging for any type of shot to get back in the second half of the Temple game, he was crying he wanted to play so bad!!

I don't think Mick will risk it unless he is 100% cleared by every doctor.

He's the kind of player that will play thru the pain and still give u all he's got. He will tell mick and the doctors he's fine even thou it problem hurts. I expect him out there, and I expect a big game from it. Once adrenalin gets going and it gets loose it won't bother him much. That's what I hope at least

Really smart. Then he'll turn a minor injury into a serious sprain and will be out indefinitely.

Mick said they won't know until Wednesday but did say the only way to keep Jackson from playing would be to leave him home. He said if Jackson can't be his normal self, jumping all over the place, he won't play. He also said Lawrence is light jogging and is a week or two away. Mentioned they have larger goals than winning one game on Thursday and they won't jeopardize the bigger goals for one game. I think JJ will play against UL.

For what it's worth, Mick also said the Bearcats were used to being disrespected. The guys on Katz corner basically gave UC no shot to win Thursday.

Louisville is a hard team to put a finger on this season. They have shown they are capable of playing really, really well (Houston, @UConn) but they have also showcased some very average moments (L vs. UNC, close win at Rutgers).

On the surface you say that UL is the favorite because they are (heavy favorite if Justin doesn't play) but they don't play the games on paper. UL played a pretty soft non-conference schedule and have only been pushed a few times this season. IF UC can make this game a fist fight and not a track meet, you never know what might happen.

I think it's interesting that Cronin called Louisville our biggest rival, and said they have been for 30-40 years.

He really loves pissing Xavier fans off haha.

If you think of the best traditional rivalries, they are mostly in conference, not many out of conference. OSU/UM UNC/Duke Bama/LSU Okla/Tx

I'm going to make my prediction. Russ Smith has shot nearly 60% from the three in the last 4 games and offensively Louisville has clicked on all cylinders. Law of averages tell me Smith isn't going to continue to shoot the ball at that pace. Whoever GG and SK guard both will be key match ups. They will need to stop penetration and make UL shoot jump shots and force Harrell to score off the block instead of dunks.

I see UC playing at a deliberate pace. The Bearcats will need to get off to a decent start and not turn the ball over early. My hope is they attack Harrell inside and make him play defense. Titus Rubles will be huge in this game because Luke Hancock cannot guard him down low. As a matter of fact I think Thomas and Rubles are the key to winning this game offensively. Along with how well GG and TC handle the ball.

Cincinnati will need the bench to give them production. I don't care if it comes from Sanders and Johnson or Caupain and Nyarsuk. We have to have bench scoring. Pitino will try to take the ball out of SK's hands.

If Jackson plays he has to be active offensively. Get Harrell in foul trouble and I love our chances. Defensively he has to play position and be smart. UC has to rebound especially defensively. As I stated earlier, well over half of Harrell's rebounds are offensive.

I am going to make my prediction under the premise Jackson will play. I like how Cincinnati matches up with Louisville. If UC limits turnovers and limits offensive rebounds I think they will win. Even if JJack don't play I think they will account well of themselves because Harrell doesn't have the kind of size Titus can't guard but I think UC will fall just short w/o JJ.

I'm predicting a UC victory in the range of 68-64 to 72-68. Believe it will be a war with neither team giving an inch and UC seeking respect. I'm not predicting this with my heart. I like the match ups. My only fear is turnovers. There you have it. (w/o JJ I'm going to say UL wins 70-62)

I agree with all of this. I have not seen anyone or any media give UC a chance to win this game, but I honestly think they will. I was more worried about the Memphis game then I am about this game, and we ended up with a 16 point beatdown on the Tigers. I honestly think we will win this game, if we have JJ.
