Thanks Jacob and Jason for the info! I like in the article they say the sportsmanship and support have to be real and not just words. Xavier will have to put their words into action before I believe it.

Yesterday I read an article with only quotes from Bohn and I didn't know Mack wasn't there either. I feel much better now knowing more facts and seeing Mick's thoughts on it. At least it's at FTA next year and in February...not all bad.

Mick was on the radio today. He called into Willie's show impromptu. He was not available yesterday or to call into shows because he was spending time with his daughter. I will NEVER fault someone for putting their family first and I applaud him for this.

Mick said he really didn't care and he was pissed about some irresponsible bloggers putting stories online with no basis in fact. Mick said he wants a new arena. He's not concerning himself with small things like this.

Reading between the lines, I think Mick is not jumping for joy with the shootout news but I think he has bigger fish to fry and is focused on those things more than this little game.

This sums up how I feel about this situation. If you really think Mick is considering bailing from UC because we have to play @ Cintas again, that's just preposterous. It's also pretty irrational to think Bohn is just overruling Cronin's preferences. Supposedly it had all to do with Ono and not Bohn, and we all worship the ground Ono walks on.

I am glad that it got moved to February. I know i say it a lot but it just really irks me how unfair and disrespectful the games at Cintas are. Get tired of it lol.

I guess I'm in the minority but I'm happy the games got moved back to campus. The game just isn't the same at US Bank, I can't think of any big rivals that play at a neutral court. Mick may not be thrilled with the decision but I doubt he really cares that much. For him it's one game of how ever many we play, I think it's a good decision.

I liked it at US Bank for the simple fact that season ticket holders got the right to purchase tickets every year and could see the game every year as opposed to only the home years. I imagine Cronin is doing the diplomatic thing and supporting the university's decision. It is easy to see that playing at US Bank the last two years was not a good move for the fans as atendance clearly showed and maybe that is what changed Cronin's mind from an emphatic no to a what's best for the fans and university.

Also, for the conspiracy theorists, I always wondered if we moved our games to US Bank then how would that still be considered a neutral site. Obviously that option is still up in the air for UC and maybe that is why they were more willing to return back to Cintas.

I think it will be interesting to see how each school and Xavier in particular will address the "sportsmanship" aspect to the game that was referenced in the article. I have to imagine they will have to police their student section must closer.

It will only be in February every other year, when FS1 controls the game (when at Cintas) it will be played in December.

I feel like getting involved with FS1 was a huge mistake for them.

FS1 is bad for the Big East, but Xavier fans will never admit it. Ratings for Big East games were awful last season. It's still a great basketball league, but the Big East had big ratings in the '80s because they were ahead of the curve with media coverage. Now that every major conference has all of its games televised nationally, I don't think a conference of small private schools is ever going to pull high ratings on FS1.

Truth is, the Big East of modern times needed schools like Syracuse, Louisville, and UConn with their large, national fan bases to keep TV ratings up. The interest in the new Big East is not on par with the old one, and being relegated to a fledgling network struggling in ratings is only going to further diminish their reach.

we'll see the impact the next time the league tv contract is up for negotiation. right now they are doing pretty well financially based on the current deal. If viewership doesn't grow it could hurt the league. Buzz Williams alluded to the lack of exposure when he left. Mick always talks about the need to be on ESPN. I argue that lack of exposure will hurt recruiting in the long term. Before NTS can say it - the current 2014 recruiting classes for the big east are really good. It's worth tracking 3-5 to five years out. As it looks now, my theory isn't holding up.

From my perspective, I love the fact that these games are coming back to the schools. I've been a season ticket holder for a gazillion years and have followed the team on the road many times, and in the postseason, but I did not attend a single Crosstown "Classic". The price for season tickets is high enough in my opinion, and when they took that game away from us, and then made the ticket prices absolutely ridiculous, I said "enough is enough"! Based on attendance, there were many who felt like me.

Mick should embrace the change. That fight resulted in his greatest season as a coach. He was struggling with home losses to Presbyterian and Marshall, and of course a blowout loss to Xavier. The fight allowed him to go into that press conference and make those great comments that got him some amazing publicity, go to the 4 guard offense that turned that season completely around, go on to his highest finish ever in the Big East (4th), make the Big East Tournament Championship game, and then the Sweet 16. If fighting Xavier can result in all that, I would embrace a return to the campus arenas and get it on with them once again!

If this is true and Mick Cronin leaves, I will be calling for Bohn's job. Cronin is more important to this program than the Xavier rivalry. Obviously we will see what happens...

I don't think we should wait. Just admit the Bohn hire was a mistake and get rid of him before he does any more damage. Nobody likes the guy, we should just cut our losses.

This was not Bohn. This was all Ono and Graham. Mick had his concerns heard and was overruled. Mick's problems are much larger than the shootout. If we lose Mick it will be because of lack of commitment from the administration towards UC basketball (Facilities, Recruiting Budget, Plane...ect)

Which is a strong possibility. Especially with all the local media idiots asking Mick every year about him leaving...one of these times he just might take them up on it.

I wouldn't worry about Mick right now. When his daughter gets a little older, maybe. Yes, the university cannot take him for granted but the sky is not falling either. Mick is not looking to get out as some would suggest with their articles, etc. The school needs to have a plan to improve the facilities. That is what Mick cares about. He doesn't really care about this game one way or the other. The program is bigger than one game. I sent a message to President Ono about this specific thing (Micke and facilities) a while back and he essentially said that he knows, understands and is working on it.

Good points. That is a little reassuring.

Nobody likes the guy? It was a mistake hire? He has been here five months and nothing has really happened except he said new basketball facilities are his main priority. Lets try not to jump the gun.

Could careless if people like him or not. If he can get us in a new conference and build a new basketball arena he can stay as long as he wants.
