Can some one explain how this is going to get better next season ?

It’s been a while since UC lost a buy game. Maybe Presbyterian ?

Barring a miracle and us getting an elite grad transfer or two, we will be worse next season. Maybe a lot worse.

If Williams continues to play like he has been, he may decide to enter the draft. A senior season on a bad team where he is the only major threat to create may not appeal to him. And if he can show a consistent 3 point shot, he has all the tools to go to the NBA as a 3-and-D guy.

I don’t think we will be worse. It will be guys use to the system. The players we are losing aren’t giving us much anyway because of injuries and what else. It won’t be great but it might be interesting to see how guys grow.

Ok Ten games in, and I'm okay with benching/moving on from Jarron at this point. Yes he's not the sole reason we loss, Vogt is the opposing teams big man that all big men lick there chops on having a great offensive night against.

Brannen has to sacrifice buckets for D.

But Jarron, he can take that AAU attitude somewhere else. Team Moral killer, and Transfer portal starter. uuuugh

All jokes aside. We look better when Jarron and Tre aren’t on the floor. Maybe that’s because Jarron hasn’t practiced at all or maybe the system doesn’t fit them. Tre was never that skilled, so if you put him in a system where he needs to be, he’s going to struggle. He’s working hard though. Jarron will probably get better when healthy and can practice. This is why it’s hard to win with someone else’s players. Especially if the player are designed for a cronin system. Where many of the players aren’t that skilled.
It won and these players played better

Ivanauskas hit a couple of tough ones. But it's partially the fact that Vogt gives guys space to shoot and can't jump. He's got his hands up, but is still giving the guy plenty of room to get the shot off. He can't do much more, because he need to prevent the drive as well and doesn't the have movement speed to do both. It would be nice if we would play a defensive scheme that didn't require Vogt to guard the perimeter.

Their center went off for 21, our best defensive center didn't enter the game. Vogt did very well on offense, but maybe you sub Diarra in for a few minutes to shut Ivanauskas down and see if that gets him out of rhythm once Vogt comes back in.

Frankly I don’t know any player that shuts down the crazy spin shot moves that went down for him. It was borderline miracle the shit he was making. We have much bigger problems

I’m not gonna lie ... this is on Brannen, this is on Jarron .... this is on every single person on that team.... Brannen has shown to be in over his head the first 10 games, the honeymoon period is over.... Jarren has his head so far up his own ass, I don’t care about your injury as an excuse , if it’s that bad don’t play, flat out, that was the most bone head play I have ever seen...this is on the whole team and staff... it’s embarrassing.

Uhhhhhhh

What are you talking about.

Jarron took 8 shots tonight
He had 4 assists tonight where he perfectly set up how teams
He defended whilst still clearly in pain

He had 8/6/4 lol he played the role of glue guy tonight while Jaevin, Vogt, & Williams all took more or as many shots as Jarron

This is the worst take of this thread dude.

He made a mistake. But remember it was Jaevin who missed 2 free throws, turned the ball over, then fouled which lead to more points from Colgate.

Remember when I said teams won’t be afraid to test Vogt based on his poor defensive rating in synergy ?

This team wasn’t scared of Vogt what so ever.

They took it to him. And he will be a target all season long.

Brannen referred to Vogt's bad defense in this press conference as well. Said Colgate took advantage of ball screens and dragging Vogt away from the basket and "it's tough because he gives us so much offensively".

It's going to continue to be a theme against every good team. If Vogt is going to play, we need to find a way to hide him on the defensive end.

I think this season goes one of two ways after tonight. They rally and become a bubblish team ( like Xavier last year), or it turns in to a dumpster fire. Will be interesting.

And he will be the best player on the team next year if Williams transfers (which he should), which is pretty frightening.

Yeah, We get it, what’s the solution? Kenyon isn’t walking through that door

I'm expecting dumpster fire. I'd be surprised if we win more than one of the next three (and 0-3 wouldn't surprise me). Without Jarron and Scott fitting in the system, we just don't have the ability to be a good team. It would be nice if Brannen was good enough at coaching to adjust and help them succeed, but Brannen seems just as set in coaching his scheme regardless of the players as Cronin was.

They will be much worse. This is probably the best team they will have for the next decade. Brannen is completely in over his head. Hiring mistakes like this are what send teams into the wilderness for a quarter century.
