Could be worse, at least Mike Rice isn't our coach

How does this guy still have a job? After seeing this guy coach a few times and watching the way he acts on the sidelines none of this surprising.

I'd imagine as this story gains steam he's probably going to get fired. I just don't understand how the AD could have looked at this months ago and only decided to suspend him for a few games.

We had a disappointing season, that happens.
People will calm down, that said, Rice is clearly bat shit.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to play for him.

That's what it comes down to. Will recruits want to play for him? As a parent, if it was my kid, I would be very reluctant to have him go to Rutgers and play for that man.

i agree and its shouldn't be too much longer til hes fired. can't allow kids to be abused no matter the person or circumstances

He should have been fired when their AD, Tim Pernetti, viewed the tapes back in December. It's going to look bad if he fires Rice now just because the video is out there, when his initial reaction was a 3-game suspension, fine, and anger management.

Wouldn't shock me if the AD lost his job as a result of this fiasco too.

This video is craaaaaazy, but not shocking because if anyone has seen Rice coach during a game you would know he is a freaking psycho. I was disgusted watching him coach when he was at UC this year. I am all for a coach getting hot but he takes it to another planet. He will get fired and there is no way the Big Ten will allow him to coach in their prestige league. I can't believe one of his players haven't gone after him...people can only take so much.

Karma will work its way to find Mike Rice, that is for sure.

@JasonBaumRU Based upon recently revealed information and a review of previously discovered issues, Rutgers has terminated the contract of Mike Rice.

Rice is gone. Wonder if Savino would be a candidate.

Maybe but I think they are going to try to get a bigger name with a HC history. They need to try to make a splash going to the Big Ten, and while I think Savino would be a good hire, I don't think he is what they are looking for under these circumstances. Of course, who knows if the current AD will be doing the hiring anyway.

I was also wondering if Cach Savino would be a candidate. He has spent time recruiting a lot of those kids at Rutgers and played a huge part in Lawrence signing.

I have not heard his name at all. I have heard Lawrence Frank, Dan Hurley and Chris Mack.

Can't decide which I would rather happen to Xavier...keeping Chris Mack or further turmoil losing their coach again. Both look like bad situations to me.

Agreed. Hurley is a name that is treated like god in Jersey and NY. They would be able to lock down some serious recruits if that is who RU lands.

I think Rutgers is interested in Hurley but I saw on twitter that the feeling wasn't mutual. Can't say I blame him.

I think it is in our best interests for Chris Mack to stay at X as long as possible. Honestly, why is he a candidate anywhere. His players last year were good (but those were Miller's players). Additionally, they were huge assholes and Mack couldn't or didn't try to contain them. There was the Dez Wells incident...not saying Mack is at fault with that but it's certainly not a good fact.

And when his good, a-hole players that he didn't recruit left the program, Xavier didn't even make the NIT tournament.

Keep him at X.

I hate X as much as the next UC fan, but Mack did a great job with the talent he had at X this year. How that team beat Memphis, SLU, Butler, Temple, and nearly VCU I'll never know.

No Dez Wells, No Mark Lyons, two of their freshmen ineligible, losing all five starters, and their leading return scorer averaged something like 4 points per game. Like Mo and Lance McAlister have said, I think Mack got every ounce out of that team that he could. X will be a quality opponent for us next year. I look forward to the battle

Xavier will be very good next year with a healthy Dee Davis, Christon, the two ineligible freshman, the huge kid from WMU and the incoming recurits. I think they can compete for the Big East title (meaning finish in the top 4-5).

Its simple, all those games and their big wins came at Cintas where Xavier is unbeatable. Look at Butler, beat them at home and get beat on the road. They lost to Wake Forest on the road who went 13-18. Wouldnt put their big wins on Mack just that they played at home.
