I think its an absurd statement to say publicly. Mick has a tendency to say some ridiculous things.

I think it's more of an absurd headline by Bill Koch. If anyone thinks beating UConn would have meant we automatically made the Final 4 then they are smoking crack, but I don't think that's what Mick said. He was clearly trying to motivate his team, his comments are being taken out of context by the ridiculously brazen headline that Koch decided to publish.

Mick has certainly said some stupid things from time to time but I'm not going to hammer him for this one. As I said earlier, if you aren't going to the tourney to win then why even show up?

Typical overreaction. Mick knew Uconn was the hottest team in the country at the time. He made a statement to motivate his guys.

Typically the headlines are not written by the writer of the article. I think Koch deserves a good bashing quite often for his work but this is more than likely not on him.

Agreed. As much as I hate X, at least they have a real beat writer.

This is one of my pet peeves with him. When things are going well, he's makes irrational statements. When things are going bad, he makes excuses. I think it turned a lot of people off who are fans of the program.

Now, just when people are starting to like him and things are going well, he does it again.
