I think the one thing that bothers me about Xavier is the blatant disrespect their university, head officials and fans show to UC. If their would be mutual respect for one another it would be different. IMO the shootout has gotten out of hand. (In terms of being over hyped)
Ultimately its one game that really has no importance on the season unless your sole purpose to rub it in the opposing fan base. Its not like we are Alabama/Auburn or OSU/Michigan and the winner determines the league champion or who goes to the playoffs. Or even a Duke/UNC where it could have reg season benefits. Its one non conference regular season bball game. I don't like Xavier, never have and probably never will. But I certainly don't let A loss to Xavier make me think the sky is falling and out program is in shambles like a lot of people do. If anything I hope it continues to be a good opportunity for UC to get a quality win. It would be a waste of energy to focus on something you can't control.

For some it adds to the enjoyment of the game. I want to win every game and don't like when we lose. The fact that they have been built up as our biggest rival means very little to me. We lost I don't like it.
The article overstates things to make it a better read and more entertaining. Artistic license if you will. Idt many people actually "hate" X. I dislike them just as I dislike OSU and UK. Mostly because their fans rub me the wrong way/i don't like their coaches/how the programs are handled or run. My response to my friends if I talk bad about X is all in good nature and overstated as a joke. What I seriously gripe to them about is how the always get hot from the 3 when the play us..... i hate that

I have friends that like UC and X. They are UC fans during the Shootout but root for both all other games. I can't root for X period. I want them to lose every game they play. I even cheered for Duke over them in the NCAA a few years back and I despise Duke. I can't cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers and I can't cheer for X. I have been that way for many years.

Really bad in game coach who relies on his staff to be successful. This isn't the SEC so we cannot afford good assistants. Cincinnati has been AWFUL against teams with equal or better talent.
So is that the crowd that is always stuffing themselves into madtree, every day of the week?
