I know its a little early but I have to start talking about it. Xavier just escaped Kent State today and I find it interesting that this is their last game until they play us. Some might call 10 days to gameplan, but sounds like they will be rusty to me.

Also, haven't heard anything about ticket sales so I went on Ticketmaster and played around a bit. For those who don't know, you select ticket on either the "UC side" or the "XU side". I tried 2 tickets for Xavier: Lower bowl, baseline row 3. I tried 2 tickets for UC: Upper bowl, baseline row 8. Could mean nothing but to me that sounds like we are selling much more than they are (as we should).

This team is not very good despite their 7-2 record. They have beaten Robert Morris, Drake, Drexel, Purdue, and Kent State all by 7 or less points with losses to Pacific and a dreadful Vandy team at Cintas. However, they do play hard. Christon is a master at getting to the rim and scoring so we need to make him prove he can shoot. Redford: Exact opposite. I've stood by stunned for 5 years as A-10 opponents get lit up by this kid. He has no ability to create whatsoever and he can't shoot inside 20 feet. Overplay him and take some chances. Davis can play, but I would put Parker on him to lock it down. Front court is nothing to worry about; I think we even have an advantage there too.

Bottomline, run run run. They have 8 scholarship players so they will not be able to stick with us in transition. We need to build a lead early and run them out of the building; cannot allow them to hang around.

I will be there screaming my head off, beer in hand. If this game is within 15 points, I will be disappointed for sure.

My prediction-72-60 UC.

Well, like many past years have shown, the better team seems to usually lose. I would generally say a team our caliber vs a team of that caliber, we should win by 28. But really, you just never know. And honestly, there isn't a year I've ever wanted to win more than this year. After everything that went down last year, the things I heard X fans say about our school and players (many being humongous hypocrites with the guys they had), I just want us to whoop 'em and put them back in their place as the 2nd best team in this city. Granted, a lot of X fans aren't as bad as the people I'm referring to. I don't want to generalize an entire fanbase. I'm just saying, some are so in denial that I want UC to destroy them so that it becomes a reality.

Don't really care about this game that much. In the past it was probably the marquee game on the OOC but now with the games in Vegas and the home games with Alabama and New Mexico this is truly just another game to me. It will probably end up being a good game because it usually is (last two years notwithstanding). If UC loses I will be as disappointed as I would be if they lose to Marshall.

X has no chance.
85-43 uc

This will be the worst beating ever in this "rivalry". No one on x's team would even make the uc roster

I like your optimism, and as much as I hate eggs and believe they aren't very good this year, it should be a 10-15 point game. If we play bad, we win by ten, if we play really well, by 20.

I know it's difficult, but just ignore him. It's really not worth responding to; I agree with your assessment though.

It sucks that Xavier is really going to bring our rpi down this year. I think we will spank the ish out of them. I wish we would stop playing them because I honestly feel they aren't worthy of stepping one foot on the same floor as us. I can't stand their school, fans, and all their hypocritical egos. I think Chris Mack is a huge POS and he can suck a big d. I think Xavier is a dirty program and mack is classless. Seeing they have 10 days to prepare mack will be teaching them some great classless techniques to lure us into their bullsh!t. Every year its a lose lose for us and nothing good can come from it. To us, its just another game and I am confident we will squash those X turds.

I like your optimism on this forum, but you are ungodly unrealistic. Not just in this post; I actually think a 40 point win isn't impossible. I mean by the fact that I'm pretty sure I've never heard you say something negative about this team, and that we are going to win the championship. Are you really going to tell me this team is more well rounded than Duke or Indiana?

I honestly agree with a lot of your post, but the sentence I've bolded reminds me of what O$U fans say about UC, so I say screw that. We should and always will play X, just like we should play O$U every year and UK every so often. When programs get their ego a little too high and think other good programs aren't worthy, it really irks me.

I only made that statement meaning that they don't deserve to be on the floor because the dirty style, hook and bate us in. Its a lose lose for us bc Xavier can do no wrong and they are so holy while uc is just thugs really irks me. I also feel Xavier does not respect UC and our programs history so I don't have an ounce of respect for them.

So I didn't mean it like I think their program isn't worthy BC it is but I refuse to say it to any X fan BC they don't respect uc.

Xavier is surprisingly better than I thought they would be this year. And remember, they did beat the same Butler team that beat UNC.

Xavier has the potential to shoot it very well. They have shooters. If they get hot and UC is not, this could be a game, and a game they win.

On paper, UC has the edge on experience and depth.

I'm not sure Xavier is prepared to deal with UC's running style all game, and UC's superior athleticism and size (by a mile).

I just hope UC isn't overly confident.

I do see Xavier having a cocky attitude with guys trying to prove themself, such as Semaj. But I'm sure they'll get a warning before the game from Mack and possibly even Fr. Graham.

I do find it interesting that Xavier has allowed themselves 10 days to prepare for UC, though. Typical.

My guess is a 10-15 UC win if everything plays out like on paper.

The nature of this game causes everything to go out the window. But if UC comes in business like and just plays they will win. They are simply deeper and more talented this year. The rivalry makes it hard to predict a score. X will show up to play.

While it is always fun to talk about the shootout, I think its a bit premature. We have a huge road game against Marshall with revenge in our minds. They put it to us last year and it will be a good test for our team.

We will see the best xavier team all year and still beat them by 40. They are terrible

Uc will be undefeated in ooc play

Have you ever watched a shootout? Records don't matter. Aside from a few years, most of the recent games have been dogfights. The players all know each other, they have all played with and against each other so they are very familiar with each other's games, and the fans go crazy about it putting more pressure on them. Players can't walk anywhere without hearing about it.

1996 - UC was the much better team and #1 in the country. They had Danny Fortson, Ruben Patterson and Bobby Brannon. X was stumbling with young players and playing inconsistent. X won at the Shoe.

1999- UC was ranked #1 again. They were the near unanimous choice to be #1 in the country. They were 7-0 and rolling through teams behind eventual POY Kenyon Martin. X won. UC only lost one other time all regular season.

2006 - UC was in a rebuilding year under Mick's first year. Vaughn was there but Williamson and others filled in to help transition the program. They were heavy underdogs vs a solid X team. UC won

The last two years have been anomalies. I expect a 10-15 point UC win(we are the much better team on paper), but it won't be a cakewalk as many are suggesting. The weird part with scouting X is you literally have no idea how they will play on any given night. Will it be the team that dominated Butler or the team that lost to Pacific and Vandy? Either way, UC is deep, has confidence, and is much much more experienced. That should be a significant edge.

I would love to see UC beat Xavier by 30 points. There is no doubt we are the better team by a large margin this season, that being said it's the shootout so who knows? I'm just glad that all is right in the world again. UC is a top 10 team and Xavier is back to being the little program that could. If Xavier beats us their fans will hoot an holler about them being the "best team in Cincinnati" and meanwhile UC will go on to be a top 5 seed in the NCAA tourney and XU most likely won't even get in. The UC vs XU rivalry is back to where it should be. UC is the big bad top 10 power and XU is the nice little team in Cincy that no one's ever heard of. David vs Goliath, the way it should be.

Best Shootout of the past 20 seasons was Mick's first season.

Mouseketeers were highly ranked and coming to the Shoe. UC fans were giving their tickets away. Someone gave me tickets, saying they expected a 40-point beatdown by Xavier.

Jamual Warren holds Stanley Burrell to 0-10 shooting, and Burrell shoves Warren when the officials weren't looking. UC shocks the Gangstateers in probably the most surprising win of the series.

I'm not sure if that was the Final Five year for Xavier or if it was the previous year.

It just goes to show you that anything can happen.
