I read the column from Koch, "Cronin, Calhoun Trade Jabs" (which can be found under the Bearcat News and Headlines section) and got to thinking. In my opinion, Calhoun is one of the biggest cheats in college basketball and quite frankly a pompous ass. Why would he even both calling out Cronin? His team won their game today, and his team also beat Cronin's team a couple of weeks ago. Besides just being the a$$hole that he is, I came to the conclusion that he feels threatened by Cronin. Calhoun should be thinking the heavens for the tradition of UCONN, built by the likes of Marshall, Allen, Okafur, and even Thabeet. It was this tradition that attracted Kemba to UCONN. If not for the history of that program, and events causing them to open up a scholarship, Cronin would have been riding the talent of Walker the last three years. Cronin has established his resume with relentless work and hours in recruiting and coaching, and rebuilt a program in the last five years. Calhoun, in the last five years, has fought his health, recruiting violations, and NCAA investigations. If I were Calhoun, I would be concerned about Cronin's success and potential. However, if I were Calhoun, I would also do a little homework before I start bad mouthing a fellow coach (so much for the Coaching Brotherhood/Code) and get the opinions of other coaches and the athletes themselves as to their opinions of Cronin. Cronin hasn't built his reputation his athletes, the athletes he lost out on, and all of the families by being shady and malicious. It is stories like this, that I feel more appreciative and honored to have a classy coach running my favorite program. Sorry for the rant, but I thought this story was ridiculous. Cronin is reaching out for respect for his kids and the program, and he has to put up with this crap. Keep kicking ass Mick!
