Welcome to the #gunshow. Gunner has played well. Also think he has helped open to the run game. Should have started from game 1.

Pretty nice crowd tonight, and mostly in RED. Kiel looked excellent, and TT was fired up tonight at the officials. Therefore, everything went wrong for the naysayers---UC won, TT got a 15 yard penalty for being fired up, good crowd wearing RED, beat a team that beat NC St. Sorry!

you left out the part where gunner looked like an obvious choice as our best quarterback and TT looked like a complete **** in relation

The OFFENCE looked much much better last night than it has all season. Gone were the succession of throws to the sideline on 8 yards outs time after time, as Kiel was able to throw the ball downfield, and actually connect on some! The offensive line was able to give him protection....0 sacks....and open up some running lanes. But, hey TT, do you know what a sweep is? Try running one once and awhile.

The DEFENCE still has problems with applying pressure to the passer...0 sacks....and coverage on narrow posts and across the middle on slants. #81 (Williams) for ECU was open all night long. But the tackling was much improved from what it has been. Part of the problem with the defence is scheme related IMO. When UC ran a 3 man line with a nose tackle in a four point stance and two ends standing up, ECU ran at will through big holes and for gobs of yardage. But when UC went to a 4 man line with 2 down lineman at the tackle positions or 3 down lineman and a strong side backer playing as an end, they stopped the runs for short gains time and again. It was easy to see from our seats in the stands and I'm sure ECU was aware of it too.

While it's nice to see the team win (man is it nice!), we shouldn't get too excited by either the RED crowd (homecoming) or the final score. IF ECU doesn't fumble down in the red zone in the 4th quarter they might very well have won that game.....and they are now 2-5 on the season.

Gunner did well for a guy who was third string because he couldn't figure out the offense. He must have really done some studying the last couple of weeks. ;)

Good win, nice to see the running game open up and nice to see gunner back under center. Sucked that Boone had that ko return for td called back due to penalty. Hopefully this team learned some things last night and plays better going forward. Regardless of who we want and don't want as coach, Tubbs is here then rest of the year as are the players. Would like to see them finish strong and save a little face on the season.

I believe we can all agree that the Bearcats are not the quality of team that we all want. Tough games at Temple, home with BYU, away at Central Florida, home with Memphis, and at Tulsa. We may not win another game and finish 4-8. Everything starts up front, and I just don't see enough "up front" on offense or defense. The real good teams are featuring QBs that can really run (Ohio St., Louisville, Clemson etc.), and TT has said it himself that it really adds another aspect for your defense. In the future, I would like to see UC go in that direction.

...and that is their only FBS win.

Went to the game and had a great time, attendance was better than most thought it would be.

Now for some facts:
Going into last night ECU was 3rd nationally passing for 378 yds/gm w/ 7 ints in 294 attempts

Last night - 283 yds, 2 ints on 43 attempts

Defense forces 3 turnovers and holds top 5 passing offense to 283 yds

Boone and Tion - 29 for 159, 5.48 a carry

Also interesting that ECU coach was extremely fired up on the PI call that led to a TD, and was giving the refs an earful, after that nearly all calls went to ECU including flags on TT.

I think TT going nuts might have been the spark the defense needed to make that last stop. I was glad to see him fired up, although I'm not a fan of drawing penalties, but the call was ridiculous. I could see from opposite end zone our guys jersey being pulled. Then they pick up the flag. He had a right to be angry but he kind of lost his head. But his team responded and ECU stood no chance that next set of downs. Even stuffed them on fourth and 1. Might be the only down this season either one of our lines didn't get knocked back.

As they should have been. That was an awful call that completely changed the game. Instead of ECU getting the ball around the UC 30, they ended up giving up a TD. Horrible, horrible call that we GREATLY benefitted from.

I'm all for a mobile QB. If I'm not mistaken, we had offered Lamar Jackson and the Flowers guy from USF.
