I think 15-2 is pretty good. We aren't gonna shoot lights out every game, we probably get alot of teams best shot, and things don't always go right...but that's why you play the game.

I've been one of the biggest mick critics, but I think this team is talented. Hard to argue with the record so far.

I definitely think that UC is going to have trouble with SMU, Tulsa and UCF on the road. Also seems to happen every time when the team gets ranked and think they have arrived and teams will lay down.

I'm guessing they will have 2-3 more losses. With that said, this team is fun to watch. Today not so much. A win is a win!

And this site bends over backwards and to make sure no one ever back talks NTS. It's a joke.

Agreed!!!!!
I'm a Bearcat fan and have been longer than that joke NTS. Sure I'm not happy at times with every coach we ever had at UC, but I support my University regardless. NTS is a guy that would run and hide under a rock if you ever needed him(total coward). Go ahead and ban me I'm going to stand up for my coach and University whoever is coaching my University. NTS go root for Xavier or better yet Kentucky you sound like a typical Kentucky fan.

Moderators please remove all Kentucky fans. This is a Bearcat board. We don't need a Kentucky fan spewing inaccurate facts.

I'll just go ahead and speak pragmatically for NTS and tell you what he is trying to say

EYETEST: FAIL. 55pts on the road against a MISERABLE ECU team. Anyone who has watched us the past 10 games cant say with any confidence this team is built for a deep tourney run. SUMMIT, RUSTY WALLACE, ZERO, and 33% from FG / 17% from 3pt range = 6 seed and first round LOSS. This team has so much talent and cant seem to prove that to anyone

Oh, this team has proven it. It can find ways to score in adversity. It has the Bearcat defense we've come to expect over these last 10 years. Does it have snags occasionally as most teams tend to every few years? Of course it does. But is a team capable of a deep run and potential excitement along the way? Yes, yes it does. The talent we have is unbelievable - look at Brooks - a big guy capable of running the floor and scoring points. Tre has a ways to go but has shown glimpses. Cumberland doesn't need any words I could say to show his worth. And right now? We're clicking on the right cylinders, but with plenty of teachable moments along the way and thankfully plenty of time to correct issues that are plaguing us like free throws and utilizing the offensive talent we know we have.

Team needs credit...the firepower finally exists and is finally living up to the expectations set for it. We just had a sick guy take over the end of first half and lengthen the game to what amounted to an unassailable lead. Troy has the chops to go the distance.

Meanwhile, we still have a very, very vocal minority still going after these guys. We have talent. We have the coaching to nurture it, as good as any school in the country, and we still find it necessary to tear down the success we've found. We have no choice over which conference we are part of, yet the one we are stuck in, we are dominating. How about being happy, even if you (not you, the original poster I am replying to, but the reluctant reader) have to admit that Cronin is finally achieving his vision of UC basketball? We've FINALLY arrived and are going places, with class after class of actual talent. It's time to modernize and get with the program - you either like what we're putting on the floor and supporting it, or you're not really a fan of bearcat basketball. This isn't the same argument of "you're not a real fan if you don't show up to the game" but I am arguing we finally have the pieces in place, after many, many years, so might as well come along with the ride, and see where it goes. If you're still holding out, then I don't know what to say. We're playing some damn good b-ball and after the last few years, regardless of who we are playing against, we're putting the entire package on the floor.

Despite there being excellent shooting days vs subpar shooting days (happens to every team) we generally put a good product on the floor this year. Your life will be easier if you enjoy the product Mick has put years into molding into shape. I encourage you to get onboard with it and see where we can go with all the pieces in place. Thanks all

I'll take 15-2 and 5-0 to start conference play with 3 conference road wins any year. I'll never take that kind of success for granted. Not every single game during a win streak or year with a good record is going to be a route.
I hope we see inspired basketball away from home the rest of the year. That's my #1 concern. It too easily turns into every possession being against set defense and lots of standing with the ball. Caupain holds the ball on the wing and waits 5 seconds for a screen, then dribbles for a second, and ends up throwing it back out top or dribbling back himswlf to reset. Evans looks like he has no idea how to get anything easy that isn't in transition. He doesn't know which way is up right now. He needs to go out and just let it rip. Shoot and score from everywhere. Just get his shots up whenever he has any room at all. Washington is good for this team bc he'll never stop shooting. I'd rather have that than guys who disappear in uncomfortable environments. He's gonna get his out there.
Lots of positives out there, but also seeing concerning signs bc of what we've been through with some of these players for the past few years. We gotta find a way to play our game all the time. That's what this season will ultimately come down to I think.

Then please don't watch UC anymore. More importantly, don't post on the board. If you and NTS want to be the most negative people in the room, then just stop watching. If you already know how the season will end, and it seems you think you do, then the college basketball season is done for you.

I don't get it. Why watch a team you are already saying will lose when it matters?

I wish people could post comments like this more often. Positives and negatives with points of discussion instead of just saying to fire the coach after starting the season 15-2. Smh.

But, I agree. The play away from home scares me since we do not have the luxury that UCONN does of playing the conference tourney on their home floor. We need to figure out why the hell we can't score unless we are at 5/3. The talent is there but they seem to lock up and forget what to do. The passive and stagnant offense you describe of players getting the ball and taking 3+ seconds to decide what to do needs to change--both at home and away,

I tend to be pretty optimistic, but that game was not in the least bit encouraging, at least on the offensive end. Defense still looks great, but I think playing the 334th best offense in the country will certainly help that.

Not sure why, but our guys looked beat. They were exhausted and constantly catching their breaths. I'm not sure if it was because they came out of the game trying to go 100mph and they weren't used to it or what, but after that, they slowed the pace down to a snail. Not only that, but barely even passed the ball around enough to get a decent look. I've never seen so many late in the shot clock air-balls, and that's saying something. Nobody was moving on offense. It didn't seem like plays were even being run. Just standing around. It was like they'd all gotten 2 hours of sleep the night before. I'm really lost as to what they were trying to do.

Like Jacob said, I don't want to take a road conference win for granted, but it scares me how terribly we tend to shoot outside of our arena. Plenty of time left to get practice in other gyms before March, but that really worries me.

I am not on this board to be constantly negative. I am on this board to be constantly realistic. I go to every game and watch every game. I LOVE UC Basketball. Its the only sport I care about. Period. However, I dont have to let my undying passion for UC Bball detract from what I see realistically: EYETEST- FAIL. This teams stinks of teams from the past where we run through the conference, then get to the tournament and cant execute offensively. Sometimes its OK to be negative. Hell, those constantly and unrealistically postive people on this board are just as bad!

PS. Rusty Wallace yesterday on the floor. He wouldnt even start for ECU. Hes a ZERO

LMAO. You must be a Kentucky fan.

The coaches have been saying it and even Troy Caupain said it in his post game comments, you can't keep taking teams like east carolina and tulane for granted because you feel they will lay down. Not going to happen because these types of teams are looking for big wins against ranked opponents and uc can't just go out there playing down to the competition. Other than that I'm proud where they are and hoping mick keeps his team focused for every challenge here on out.
