Not our choice to be in this conference or to go to a different conference. UC is doing everything they can to get into a power 5 conference.

Okay, but you could beef up your out-of-conference. OSU was very impressive. Miami (Fla)? Big hat, no cattle...a 6-6 team (and you lost). Toledo? Miami (Oh)? You won't get much love for the lot. It's okay for Alabama to play a cupcake. Not so much UC if you want to move up to P5. And the truth is there are enough cupcakes in the AAC schedule you can't add to the problem with a soft out-of-conference schedule. Just an opinion.

I agree we have to be aggressive with non conference scheduling. But elite teams won't give home and homes. The non conference schedule this year was just fine as to where we need to be imo.

And performance on the field has less to do with us moving into a power 5 than other factors. Our market needs to attract a conference so they can gain TV sets. Rutgers didn't make it into the big ten by doing anything on the field. We need to sell out games and have a rabid fan base that throws money into the program. When we lost to Ohio state half the fans didn't show up the next week to watch the team play. Facing elite teams and losing will just keep our fair weather fans at home and thus not help our situation. We need to schedule solid teams and be able to beat them.

As Aldous Huxley said "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." (Don't think he was talking about football, though.) You schedule MAC teams when you reside in the promised land, not when you are asking permission to enter. And I mean no disrespect whatsoever... I graduated from an MAC school. You are correct, no home and home with the elite teams. What you do get is great national exposure and a very fat paycheck. That's life in G5Land, as you well know. Anyway, not for nothing, you're just not going to impress anyone scheduling two MAC schools at the beginning of your schedule.

Agreed. Rutgers is the perfect example. And yes, elite teams and constantly losing will keep the fans at home. But there is some space between Toledo and Alabama. Kentucky isn't great but it is the SEC. Louisville would be tough, but it's the ACC. They are both near UC, probably have a lot of alum's in the area, and not so elite they wouldn't agree to a home and home. Just thinking out loud here...

I agree, the purdue's and Oregon state's of the world is who we need to go after. Pitt has talked about renewing things with us. Louisville or Kentucky would be perfect. To be fair, Toledo was scheduled back when we were in a bcs conference with an automatic bid. Miami is the rival that will always be on the schedule. Going forward uc has at least one name school on the schedule for many years to come and are eyeing big ten and sec schools to schedule and talking with Pitt as well.

If Miami (Fla or OH... you had both?) is a thing, that's fine. You are spot on with Purdue, Oregon State, Pitt, all good selections... all would do a home and home - and you would have good crowds. Add Indiana, Illinois, Rutgers - the list of big name teams that would do a home and home is endless. That's what I was trying to say... there are so many teams from P5 to play I just can't see playing the MAC or other G5. Thank you...I too think Kentucky and Louisville would be good, and generate some great pub and crowds given proximity and alums in area. You're within freakin' driving distance to both. Great that you have SEC / B1G on schedule going forward. If you do "middle of the pack" from those conferences you will do fine - problem is you have to schedule so far in advance. Five years ago Ol' Miss may have looked like a sure win...yesterday they beat Miss St. Hard to see the future, but you do the best you can. Anyway, get those P5 schools on the schedule when you can, and stay away from G5 out-of-conference. More butts in the seats for UC v Kentucky than UC v Western Michigan.

Didn't Babcock ink a FB and BB game with Michigan. I believe we play at the big house but not sure if they come here.

Not that I can tell. UC at UM 2017 and that's it. Looked at the UofM schedule through 2019 and nothing else on the docket... this is football, didn't check basketball.
